ello fellow PH's, My husband and I took our boat up the Delaware river to hear Jimmy in Camden NJ on 6-10 from Baltimore. It was our first real trip in the boat and I'm kicking myself I didn't get a picture of the fly-overs of Jimmy's plane. If anyone got a picture and could e-mail it to us I will be forever grateful.
Thanx, ^^^^^^^'s up

Lola: Message from RM regarding broadcast of Southampton show:

-----

No, we will not be broadcasting that one. It's a private benefit and we don't usually broadcast those.

Bsherris:

Thanks for the info.

Did everyone also notice that most people had no clue when Jimmy sang "That's What Living Is to Me?" Too bad, since I think it's a great song. In my humble opinion, I would have liked less cover songs (3!) and more Jimmy songs.

I was there also. I've seen JB twice this summer and I was expecting the shorter set because of the benefit, so I wasn't disappointed. It was a stripped down show...no horns and no Utley, so the steel drums had to do a lot more work, but they sounded great. The only song that I was expecting that he skipped was "We Are The People". I thought that would be a natural to do accoustically.

He brought a bunch of kids onstage for Brown Eyed Girl including his own, which made for a fun visual with the kids and Jimmy jumping up and down.

After the first encore, someone threw a paper airplane on the stage (20 mile and hour winds aided it), and Jimmy grabbed it and yelled "Will someone call British Air and tell them I found one of their Concorde's?". Given the recent Air France Concorde crash, I thought that was maybe a little tasteless, but it will take a lot more than that to keep me away from Jones Beach :-)

I was lucky enough to be in the vip section...had a great view! I have never been that close to the stage...
Given the horrible weather...it was nice to be in the vip tent for a few hours...lots of great food and drink! PHpaul...you must not have made friends with the guys pouring the tequila...it surely paid off to be pfriendly!
The show was great in my opinion...I seem to be easier to please than most I guess! I think the whole experience was pretty close to perfect! We were lucky to be near some great, respectable fans...had no trouble with any rude behavior...even made some friends and exchanged some e-mail addresses! I guess they felt oblgated to be nice after I leid them! LOL
I thought Jimmy looked to be having a good time...making jokes and being fun.
I expected a short set list...but he did play for almost 2 hours with no break...and did three encores...can't ask for much more than that! Of course a few band mambers were missed...He had to change a few key words in "volcano"!
It was great...looking even more forward to Jone's Beach!

I agree the concert was a bit short but I am used to it since I went to the New Years Eve show and was disappointed in no FINS or One Particular Harbour. Would have liked to have heard him play The Weather is Here, Wish You Were Beautiful, with it's reference to Long Island Sound. I thought the T-shirts were cool(Only $20!!!) as well as the poster and program. I would have like to have seen someone like Billy Joel, James Taylor etc make a guest appearance. Crowd really wasn't into it like other shows. Show had a different sound without Amy Lee,Utley and Fingers. I've seen him twice on this tour and each time he played 26 songs. I hope the two shows that I am going to (Aug 22 and Aug 29th) are much better.

Dut...
There is a big difference between a typo and a word spelled wrong...sorry for the fast fingers...I was so excited about the show, my mind was working faster than my fingers. I believe I meant "member"...sorry you couldn't figure that out.

We were checking out the grounds earlier in the day...had a cooler of corona in the back...just having a great day...despite the rain. He asked if we should go to a deli to get some sandwiches to eat while we tailgated...told him.."well, there is a two hour cocktail party in the tent before the show so I doubt we'll need any sandwiches!"
He almost fell out of the car! He wondered why I had such an interest in the VIP tent and parking...needless to say...he was happy!

It was a fun night, considering the bad weather, we had fun tailgating and everybody at the school were very friendly. It was a short set but I think he was concerned about the weather.
can't wait for Jones Beach!!!!

To me I thought the concert was great, I was right in front of the stage the only bad part was when jimmy was singing 'A pirate looks at 40' and some drunken idiot behind me was screaming " come on jimmy! lighten up the party ! Let's go!! " over and over again he totaly ruined the song.

PS. jimmy looked pretty frustrated with him too

I was at the South Hampton show. Personally I felt it was one of his better shows of the summer. I have been fortuate to see him at 5 shows this summer, with another 3 more shows at the end of this month im going too. Merriweather and Jones Beach. To be honest, im a little disappointed with the continued lack of variability in his set list. This wasnt even a Corona sponsored event. It was for Charity, so no big executives looking down on the show. Jimmy seemed to be the more playful, and relaxed, at the smaller venue. He laughed more, even brought some young children on stage for some songs towards the end, and danced. Mike Utley was not present for the show, and there were no horns, but thats okay, allowed the percussion, and drums to be more prominent. No women, no cry is probably the best cover song ive heard from Jimmy. Ive been lucky to hear him play that twice this summer. Its a definate, play more of Jimmy song.
What I would like to see him do, is mix up the songs a bit, play some obscure stuff, maybe another acoustic song, or survive, Tin cup chaliceor something from the christian, a frog in a coconut tree would be nice, ill even do my stellar Kermit impression. (FYI he once was on the muppet show, and did songs with gonzo, kermit, and
the gang. I got some pictures, still need to be developed. Ill post them when i get them.
The venue was nice, open spaced, no hassles in the parking lot, even able to use the facilities as a bathroom, literally go inside the school. A nice change from the 30,000+ venues. The jimmy buffett posters were a nice change, and the concert shirts were sweet, a covented item, none the less.
See you at Jones Beach Jimmy with my blender in hand.John
