I thought that too until my girlfriend gave me a FCM for babysitting her dog for a week....I haven't used my blender since. The FCM works better (no watery margi's anymore) and has replaced my bender for other things.parrothead3282 wrote:I second that!12vmanRick wrote:my $20 Oster blender works just fine

It won't work, the power port in a car won't provide enough power. You'll want at least a 750 Watt power inverter that connects directly to the battery of the car and when I say 750 Watts that is continuous not peak power. I use a 1200 Watt with 2500 Watt peak power inverter that I connect directly to the battery. I am able to run a blender, lights, and have had several other devices connected and it has always worked great. People ask me about it all the time, they think it's great because it doesn't require a generator or gas powered engine, lot's of noise with those. I have a Waggan power inverter and really like it.coachfin wrote:I am looking for a power adapter so that I can plug my Frozen Concoction Maker into my car's lighter when I tailgate...Any suggestions???

I have a $30 blender and I never have watery margarita's. When I go to parties everyone always wants me to bring my blender and make magarita's, which baffles me because it's so easy. I guess that if you can't make a great margarita with a decent blender then the FCM is probably a great alternative. For me they are just too expensive when I can get the job done with a blender. But my blender doesn't say Margarittaville on it, maybe I'll have to get creative with a permanent marker.Ukulady wrote:I thought that too until my girlfriend gave me a FCM for babysitting her dog for a week....I haven't used my blender since. I'm curious what the "several other devices" exactly are.jeepndd wrote:It won't work, the power port in a car won't provide enough power. I love my FCM....yes, it was an extravagance because my blender did "fine".....but seriously, the drinks are better in the FCM. I use it for iced coffee drinks, making those nasty protein drinks palatable. It does really shave the ice fine and mix it up better than my blender did.

Absolutely. And I wouldn't have bought it with my own hard-earned cash, but since I've got it I'm gonna enjoy it.12vmanRick wrote:yep just because you pay 10 times the price for something doesn't make it the best

Oh, I will be right over!!Kasey wrote:We've had our Frozen Concoction Maker for a month now (an anniversary gift from my sister!) and it is absolutely the greatest.
My son graduated from high school this past weekend, so we had a ton of family staying. I made boat drinks for everyone, it was stupendous. Even the people who didn't want a drink ended up ordering virgin drinks when they saw how delicious the others looked.
On nice nights we have been waiting until sundown and then playing the Island Life game on our patio.
Bit by bit we are turning our patio into an island paradise:
-Flamingos
-parrots
-hibiscus
-mandevilla
-geckos
-adirondack chairs
-tiki torches
and on the stereo

I finally got a chance to try it for the first time this past weekend. I followed the instructions for three drinks to the letter, and it turned out very tasty but very "watery". I tried a second batch using the "shave only" switch until I thought there was enough ice, and then the "blend only" switch to mix it up a bit. That second batch turned out much better.
What I love about it is how it shaves the ice before depositing it into the pitcher. I made myself a Coke slushie today that was pretty awesome. Pour a can of Coke into the pitcher, shave some ice into it, then give it a quick blend. Awesome!

I finally got a chance to try this.... I can't get over how smooth the thing was.... All I needed was some Mix, some Tequila and some ice.
I didn't get a "watery drink" the one I made tasted better than the last one I've had in a restaurant
Note, I used ice that came in a 20 pound bag so I have plenty left over
I have one question, what do you do to get rid of the ice that is left over in the blender?

Watch your fingers!!! If you try to pull them out, there's a sharp blade nearby. If you have time to just let 'em melt, the water will collect in the clear acrylic "drip catcher" at the back of the unit, which you can remove or pout out. I made the mistake of loading up the hopper and had tons left over, but I think it won't take too long to get the hang of putting the exact amount of ice in.Glorfindel7 wrote:I finally got a chance to try this.... I was using ice cubes from the fridge, so that might have something to do with the consistency.
