The Blue Story

Post by TMHB »

So, we're getting a new puppy! It's a English Golden Retriever born on June 2nd. We'll be able to pick her up mid July. As far as a name goes, we want to stick with the Breaders theme but also put our own style into it. The theme of this litter is "Blue"
The father is Presley as in Elvis from Blue Christmas, The mother is Skye, as in Alman Brothers Sky Blue, and Presley just won a Blue Ribbon.
Of course the first thing we thought of was a girls name in one of JB songs that has the word Blue. The only 2 songs I can think of are Blue Guitat, and Pierrier Blues. Neither of those songs can help me. I was thinking if I streached it a bit more, Nadirah Shakoor may have sung backup to these songs at one time. So, perhaps Nadirah or Shakoor?
Thoughts?

What about Heaven or even (a stretch...Randee), after the song "Blue Heaven Rendezvous" from Barometer Soup....here's the lyrics...

Blue light guitars and a tropical breeze
Hummin' birds mime the words as they dance in the trees
It's a flashback kind of crowd
It's a cabaret sound
There's still some magic left in this tourist town

Those crazy days
And crazy ways
We never want to undo
We'll be together
Now and forever
At the Blue Heaven rendezvous

We're weird roman candles
Burnin' bright at both ends
At the end of the road's
Where this story beings
Where the green of the gulf
Meets the blue of the sea
What makes it all happen's
Still a mystery to me

Those crazy days
And those crazy ways
We never want to undo
We'll be together
Now and forever
At the Blue Heaven rendezvous

If these walls could talk
I don't know what they'd say
They've seen some accidental masquerades
But it's no surprise
Dances 'til dawn
Heroes long gone
Let that guitar play

We'll be together
Now and forever
At the Blue Heaven rendezvous

We'll be together
Now and forever
At the Blue, Blue Heaven rendezvous

Thanks C-Dawg. Randee is a stretch but I like it. It can still be related back to the song if we tell people what the connect is. I'll add it to the list!

Is the Blue Heaven still around in Key West? What are the female watresses and bartenders names? lol

I'll add it. Thank you. Keep them coming! Maybe it's not a Buffett tune but a song from one of the reefers?

Totally off topic...but had a friend back on Folly Beach named "Winifred"...Which got shortened to "Windy" ....which turned in to "Breeze"....which got turned in to "Breezy"...and remains Breezy today, 25 yrs later....

Whatever you name her .... make sure it can be easily shortened to one hard syllable and yelled out the door for her to come back in.
Also make sure its a name you're not embarrassed to be yelling for the neighbors to hear.
Picture a man in his bathrobe on the front steps yelling "Miss Petunia! Come here girl! Miiiiiss Pe-tun-ia!". You get the idea.

Too many people give their dogs cutesy 3 and 4 syllable names that just don't work when you call them.

Vanna, for Van Morrison, who wrote Blue Money (and Brown Eyed Girl). The Allman Brothers' song is Blue Sky, not Sky Blue.

Cool. We're big Van Morrison fans and I know the song, just didn't think of that. Thanks
