Spicy Diver Caribbean Lime Tuna Sandwiches

Post by eccodiver »

Check these out, made them the other night for dinner and had leftovers as a salad.

Spicy Diver Caribbean Lime Tuna Sandwiches

1 pound fresh tuna steak, about 1 inch thick
Your favorite olive oil
Kosher salt and ground black pepper
1 lime, zest grated
3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4 red onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon wasabi powder
1 teaspoon soy sauce
6 dashes(or more to taste) of Spicy Diver Caribbean Lime Hot Sauce
1 firm, ripe avocado, medium-diced
1 tablespoon minced scallion
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
8 multi grain or whole wheat rolls, toasted
1 bunch baby arugula, washed and spun dry

Brush both sides of the tuna with olive oil and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Grill tuna for 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Remove from heat. The tuna should be seared on the outside and raw inside. Once cool cut into cubes. (You can sear the tuna in a dry saute pan over high heat instead of grilling. In a hot pan add the tuna steaks and cook for about 2 minutes on each side until seared on the outside and still raw inside.)

Whisk the 2 tablespoons of olive oil, lime zest, lime juice, wasabi powder, soy sauce, Spicy Diver Caribbean Lime Hot Sauce, 2 teaspoons kosher salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper in a small bowl. Add the avocado then tuna in the dressing while mixing with the red onion, scallion, and sesame seeds.

Line the rolls with arugula leaves, add the tuna mixture and enjoy with friends!!

Don- Although I respect your right not to eat raw fish, this recipe does call to GRILL the tuna.

I think it sounds awesome! :D

Thanks, The tuna is grilled in this recipe and the Lime in the sauce can cook it as well. Thanks for looking and enjoy. I love them and often eat just as a salad for the low carb days after the holidays.

But it also says it should be raw on the inside.
