The next morning the seller drove up and said, "Sorry, guys, I have some bad news. The parrot died last night." When Coral and Reefer asked for their money back, the parrot seller apologized and told them that he had already spent it. The two buddies huddled for a second and then told the owner of the bird that they would take the dead parrot after all.
The seller asked, "What in the world are you gonna do with that dead bird?"
Coral said, "We're gonna raffle him off at a Jimmy Buffett show."
The man said, "You can't raffle off a dead parrot!"
Reefer said, "We sure can! Heck, we don't hafta tell nobody he's dead!" So he gave them the dead bird and went on his way.
A couple of weeks later, the parrot seller happened to meet Coral and Reefer at the grocery store. He asked, "What'd you two ever do with that dead parrot?"
Reefer said, "We raffled him off like we said we was gonna do." Coral added that they had sold 500 tickets at $2.00 each and wound up making almost $900.00 profit.
Shocked, the seller said, "My God! Didn't anyone complain?"
Coral said, "Well, the fella who won got kinda upset. So we gave him his two dollars back."
These two guys now have executive positions in the marketing department of Margaritaville.
