Great concert! Good time at the Woodlands!

SunLover: Thank you so much for posting the show. Do you happen to have the Houston show from 2008? I'd really appreciate it if you could post that one too. Thanks! :pirate:

Hey SunLover!

You mentioned on the Austin 2012 thread that you were going back and upgrading earlier shows to 250kbs as an ongoing project. Do you still have your original "capture" for this show? If so, are you able to upgrade this Houston 2010 show? That would be way cool if you can.

If you can't, I understand. But the higher bit rate shows sound night/day better!

Fins up and all you do is so greatly appreciated!

You can get yourself a music management program like Media Monkey and you can upgrade your files by yourself. MM works wonders for file upgrading. I have my entire collection in the m4a file format. I used to have all mp3, but upgraded to m4a, and it was well worth it. The beauty of the m4a file is that when upgrading the file, you can get a better quality depending on the file source. With Media Monkey, when converting a file to m4a, you set the program to convert the file to 100 percent quality. When the file is converted, depending on the source, the bit rate will be set to the highest possible quality automatically. This way, you don't waste any space by converting a file to a higher bit rate than you get actually get from a file. SunLover's concerts sound awesome upgraded this way!! And I do believe the m4a file can be played on any mp3 player.

I don't know if I want to convert all my .mp3 files! It took me almost 6 months to put all my CDs onto iTunes because I have so many of them. I got a 300 gig external drive that we use to store files, and I ripped them at the 320kbs (or thereabouts) rate to make sure they were of the highest quality. Space really isn't much of an issue for me.

I will say that SunLovers capture of the concerts are the best I have heard. And when he started doing them at the higher bit rate last year, that made them even that much better! That's the only reason I asked if he still had the original "capture" of this show, in hopes he can convert it to the higher bit rate if possible. If not, no worries'

I just realized you bumped the Houston 2010 thread up. :) I have already been upgrading some of the 2010 shows to the higher bitrate. Just haven't posted them yet. I've been going in order and have not gotten to the Houston show.

I have not tried Media Monkey as ChzHead suggested. The way I'm upgrading the files is by creating all new recordings from the original DVR captures, then rendering them to 256kbps. I could upconvert the low bitrate files by using Audition, but the new files could still have some of the noticeable anomalies of the lower original encoding. That could be compared to some older internet videos that were so compressed and get very pixelated. Even if you re-encode them at higher bitrates, the poor quality will still remain.

I believe .m4a is a lossless format for Apple, although newer mp3 players may be able to play these files. Older hardware players may not recognize these files. Software players should be upgradeable. I found this link comparing mp3 and m4a: M4A.com: M4A vs MP3. Pretty good info.

THANKS! Gotta buy you a margarita for that! I have been recording audio and video for a long time and strive to make it the best sounding tracks that I can. Of course, when RM throws me a weird situation like bad audio, dropped feeds, etc, it makes it more challenging! Gotta love it, tho...

Hey Sunlover: I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your work!

Now that we are in the "offseason" I was curious if you were still thinking about upgrading the 2010 shows? Sure would be great for a holiday treat!

If you can't, I understand.

Thanks buddy!
