Sorry for all of the questions, guys, but this one has me stumped.
I downloaded the Denver, CO 05-30-2001 concert (which my wife and I attended) off of Jokelben. I downloaded each song to my Music file on my laptop (running Windows Vista). I saved the files under "Denver, CO 05-31-2001". Now, here's what I don't understand. There are 26 songs and I downloaded all of them - they show up in my music folder.
However, when I open Windows Media Player V. 11, the 26th song (Defying Gravity) won't show up with the other songs for that concert, no matter how many times I download it to my music file from Jokelben. I have closed Media Player and re-opened it several times, which has worked sometimes in the past, but not this time.
FYI, I can click on the song in my music folder and it will play, although it seems to have a few "glitches" in it, but not bad ones. But I can't figure out how to get it into Windows Media Player. Is there a way to manually copy and paste it into WMP?
Also, I do notice that the concerts that I download from Sunlover's individual postings don't give me problems, but the ones on Jokelben do give me problems sometimes, but not all of the time (see Austin City Limits and Live By The Bay comment below).
Additionally, this concert shows up in Windows Media Player with the title "Fiddler's Green--Denver, CO 5/31/01" (which is where the concert actually was played in Denver), which is NOT the name I saved it under in my Jimmy Buffett music folder (see above). Is this problem something to do with Jokelben? Or Windows Media Player V. 11? Or some incompatibility between the two?
I don't care about the title, although I have had other problems saving concerts from Jokelben (such as Austin City Limits and Live By The Bay, which it mixed in with each other in Windows Media Player for some reason - I still don't know why).
Why doesn't Windows Media Player use the title I saved a concert under - it's like Jokelben overrides the title and assigns its' own title, but Jokelben makes no mention of "Fiddler's Green" at all in its' file title, so I can't figure out where it came from - possibly embedded somehow?.
Is the problem because I didn't use FTP? How do I get that 26th song? I really want this concert and want to burn it to a CD to listen to in my car (and would additionally like to give a copy of it to the couple we attended the concert with all those years ago).
Also, is there better freeware than WMP V. 11 to use to save concerts and burn them as CD's? I am used to Media Player, but am willing to try something else if it works better.
As always, I appreciate the efforts and information you guys put out there. Thanks in advance...
Reed

Re: Problems with Jokelben and Windows Media Player V. 11
First suggestion: upgrade WMP to version 12 much less problematic then v11
Not sure why you are having a problem with the song not showing up in WMP did you download the MP3 version of the show or m4a version? If you downloaded the m4a files, that file format is specific to Apple products and that might be the issue. Sounds like and HTTP downloading issue
As for the title coming up "Fiddler's Green" that is due to how the individual files were encoded and saved before they were uploaded to jokelben. The individual file name and encoding will determine how they display in WMP or any other player. There have been many different people who have uploaded shos to jokelben over the years so there are differences in how shows have been saved and encoded before being uploaded. There is away to change the information for each track, you need to open the folder where the files are saved and then right click a track which will cause a menu to appear from that menu select properties to edit the files properties, this will bring up a properties box which you can edited to files information with. In order to fix the entire show you will need to do this for each of the 26 tracks. Then you will need to reload the show into WMP in order for the new information to appear.
As for burning the shows to CD WMP v12 works quite well for doing this as for other freeware I am not sure. My two favorite burning programs are either Nero or Roxio Easy Media Creator.
In terms of keeping the shows organized here is what I do, first I have a master folder called Buffett Live inside that are folders for each year into which I download the Buffett shows via FTP which is much easier and quicker then using the http page for jokelben. I download using FTP so I can download the entire show folder with one click once the the download is complete. I open WMP and then select from the WMP menu File and Open to locate the concert folder, once I have the concert folder open I select all of the tracks from the show to open in WMP. Once the tracks appear in WMP I immediately create a playlist for the show and save that so I can use to listen to the show any time I want, without having to go through the file open routine every time. This keeps everything neat and organized on my PC.

Re: Problems with Jokelben and Windows Media Player V. 11
I just downloaded the mp3 version of the 2001 Denver show via FTP and then opened it in WMP v12 and all 26 songs are there as for the title it is due to how the files were encoded prior to being uploaded as I suspected in my first response.
If you want or need help setting up FTP access to jokelben just let me know and I will give you instructions

Re: Problems with Jokelben and Windows Media Player V. 11
"Fiddlers Green..." is showing up in the ID3 tag as the name of the album. The artist and track names appear correctly as "Jimmy Buffett Live" and "Defying Gravity", respectively. I enter the city and date of the show in the Album field, which can show up in your media player.
When you mentioned that Defying Gravity would not open in WMP, I initially thought the file was corrupted. I checked both the .mp3 and .m4a versions and both are complete. It also played on WMP 11 on a WinXP box at w*rk.
As for editing the ID3 tags, I use a free program called MP3Tag. It allows you to edit the title, artist, album, etc for each file. You can select multiple files and give them all the same album or artist name in one quick batch tag editing process. This will help keep the tag info consistent for each file of a given show. You can edit .mp3 and .wma files with it. I have not tried it with .m4a files, but it does support that format as well.
