A French policeman stopped his car and asked the gentleman if he had been drinking. With great difficulty, the man admitted that he had been drinking all day. He explained that his daughter had gotten married to a Frenchman that morning and that he had been drinking at the reception, starting with champagne for the toasts, followed by wine with the meal and quite a few glasses of single-malt Scots whiskey thereafter.
The gendarme proceeded to give the British gentleman a preliminary breath test, and when he failed it the man is asked if he realizes that he is going to be placed under arrest for driving while impaired.
The Englishman answers, "Did you realize that this is a British motorcar and that my wife is the driver

on the other side?"
