Trouble Converting "Here We Are" .mov to Lossless

Post by Bucarader »

To make a long story short, I am re-ripping my entire CD collection into iTunes to the Apple Lossless Format- .m4a .

I'm almost to the end of about 1000 CDs, and now I'm working on my live DVD concerts, and other stuff like that. No problem with DVDs - extract to .wav, load into iTunes, convert to .m4a. All lossless.

However, I simply cannot convert the .mov file of "Here We Are" on my Take The Weather With You CD. I'm at a loss. DVD Audio Extractor doesn't do .mov files. VLC produces something that is unrecognizable as a .wav file (or FLAC, I've tried that too thinking I could then convert to .wav). I don't have a functional version of Quick Time, and Apple no longer supports it for Windows anyway. Windows Movie Maker doesn't like the .mov file on the disk and gives it a red "X."

I'm out of tricks. Any suggestions? I'm running Windows 10. And the file on the CD works when you click on it and play it.

I've even converted the .mov to .mp4 with Handbrake, no problem. But if I extract the audio from that file it won't be lossless I don't think.

I downloaded the .acc file from iTunes long ago, but that for sure isn't lossless.

Any ideas?

You will need a converter the converts .mov file to m4a format in order to make the conversion correctly, I suggest doing a google search for ".mov to m4a" and go from there there are a number of both downloadable and online converters available

I understand what you are saying. I can google ".mov to <insert file format> converter" and get a gazillion hits.

I was just curious if any of y'all had any tips or suggestions.

Converted from .m4v file to .wav, trimmed silence at beginning and end of track, normalized audio level, rendered to .m4a.

RIght click, save link as... on the link below
