Buffett and The Eagles

Tommy is correct, the Eagles are not going to be an opening act. Even at best a co-headlining tour would still mean less of each performer. Buffett is not going to do a 2 hour plays set regardless so you'd get 12-14 songs. Right now it is listed as a handful of shows so lets hope that handful stays away from New England.

I'd also bet , there would be another lesser know act opening. We are thinking as Buffett fans , and think we would fill the Stadium ( filling GW is hard enough now) . We wouldn't. the Eagles would sell it out on there own.

I'm not alone when I say I go to Buffett now for 50% tailgating (at least) and 50% the show (at best) so Buffett going on around 5pm means tailgating ending by 4pm. Add in that it's at a stadium (Gillette) with terrible sound or if it is at Fenway, even worse sound and no tailgating. And if they add in a 3rd, lesser opening act push those times back and with an 11pm curfew that means short times for each of them.

At Countryfest with Chesney headlining they had 4 performers in this order Midland, Old Dominion, Thomas Rhett, and Kenny Chesney. Lots opened at 1pm, gates opened at 4pm, show startd at 5pm.

My summer is already ruined.

I'll never attend a concert at Gillette Stadium again. If he doesn't do GW in 2018 then it's a road trip somewhere for one of his solo shows.

You're lucky to get 2 hours from these guys anymore.
This past summer at "Classic Northwest" in Seattle Eagles did 23 tunes, Doobies did 15.
At Dodger Stadium Eagles for "Classic West" did 23 tunes, Doobies 15, Steely Dan 12.
Triple header at "Classic East" at Citi Field again the bands played about the same number of tunes.

The other Triple header "Classics" that went East Coast & West Coast, Journey, Earth Wind & Fire & Fleetwood Mac did about 20, 17 & 15 tunes each. Maybe this is future of things to come with the oldtimers!

Have no idea what kind of coin it took to get into these shows but with Buffett & the Eagles both commanding well more than $100+ per ticket...........Don't even want to think about it. And then the Stadium thing.

I had been to every Frisco show until last year, and I missed this year's too. If he plays there next year, I think I'm going back. I went to Wrigley Field back in July but I'm over stadium shows. It would have to be a really special lineup, and in my opinion Buffett and The Eagles isn't a special lineup, for me to go to another stadium show.

Why wouldn't they play full sets? As I mentioned above Kenny Chesney does it with other huge country artists every year for the last ten years.

Chesney's show is billed as a Country fest. All the bands don't do 2 hours. 45 minutes to an hour. Usually the band before Chesney may play longer. Start time is 5 for the 1st band , usually 4 acts. Chesney goes on around 9. I believe concerts have to be over at 11 in Foxboro. Unless your Springsteen , who ignores it.

In New England it is country fest but every else it's just Kenny and the other co headliner. Aleena zac brown always goes on around 6. They play two hours. Switch stage and you have chesney on around 9-11.

I would really prefer a Jimmy tour sans The Eagles. I want his full setlist, the whole atmosphere and a more palatable price than a joint tour.

Not the ones I've been to...1st act was Carrie Underwood at 5 followed by Dierks Bentley about 6 , then Big and Rich about 7 , Then Chesney ............ Then it was Pat Green , Sara Evens , Sugarland , Brooks and Dunn then Chesney.

Elton John & Billy Joel made the co-headliners show work pretty well. 3 or 4 songs together to open, about a dozen songs each of a solo set, then 6-8 songs together again for the finish. Musically, Buffett and the Eagles would be pretty compatible, they could swap back and forth a lot if they wanted to. Vince Gill and Deacon Frey have been a pretty seamless fit into the Eagles lineup, and they've had several lineup changes over the years too, so the core lineup is used to new faces.

He original lineup eagles would...this eagles band would not....they barely were able to fill the new lca in Detroit on the test tour which is only 20k seats

Some dates released this morning. It appears the Eagles are touring with others depending on the date. In addition to Buffett they will also play with James Taylor for a few shows and Chris Stapleton and a few shows alone. The Boston date lists just the Eagles so I hope this keeps a Buffett GW stop on the agenda.
