First off, I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with JB doing a licensing deal using the "Coral Reefer" name. It is about time that Marvin Gardens, Al Vocado and Kitty Litter stepped out of the shadows and into the limelight. It makes complete sense to me and I happy he is doing it.
However, I do find it questionable that he is entering the market via the "medical marijuana" route. The Margaritaville license has a broad business partly based on alcohol, which everyone knows is much worse on the body and society than marijuana. So you cannot tell me that all of a sudden he has developed a social conscious which is determining what he wants to do with his trademarks. Is he trying to say that he supports medical marijuana but does not support its recreational use? Seems a little hypocritical to me.
I wish he would just go all in, medical and recreational. That way the prices for the "medical marijuana" will be probably cheaper at the "corner grocery" at the Margaritaville retirement communities that will likely continue to spring up across the country.

"That said, Wrigley told Bloomberg last month that Surterra would eventually move into the recreational marijuana market, which should pull in more than $5 billion this year across the nine states where it can legally operate."
They'll get there.

This was AMAZING NEWS when I heard it and def. makes sense.
As far as the medical vs. rec I think it is just a safe, sort of legal safety that he did that. Right now, its not LEGAL in every state so this way it keeps the name out of any "illegal" use. I mean c mon USA! Put it across the country!
*Basically what Lime pointed out above me

I’ve got mixed feelings on it, but from a business standpoint it’s probably a good move
Much like the retirement communities he has started he recognizes his fan base is an aging group. Many of us who grew up when pot was all around us in school. Me personally, I have never used and have no interest in it. But i can see folks as they age saying what the heck, why not at this point in life
