4 versions of The Captain and the Kid

With the release of "Songs You Don't Know By Heart" Jimmy has now recorded and released 4 different studio versions of The Captain and The Kid.

Version #1 was released on "Down to Earth" in 1970
Version #2 was released on "Havana DayDreamin'" in 1976
Version #3 was released on "Meet Me in Margaritaville" in 2002
Version #4 was released on "Songs You Don't Know By Heart" in 2020.

This is the only song with 4 different studio recordings in Jimmy's catalog, second to "The Captain and the Kid" in number of studio recordings is the song "In The Shelter" which has 3 different recordings.

Version #1 was released on "High Cumberland Jubliee" recorded in 1971 and released in 1976
Version #2 was released on "Changes in Latitudes" in 1977
Version #3 was released on "Meet Me in Margaritaville" in 2002

Aside from the other tracks on Songs You Don't Know By Heart the following songs have two studio versions:

Volcano
Son of a Son of a Sailor
Knees of My Heart
Saxophones
He Went to Paris

Floridays

Margaritaville
Livingston's Gone to Texas

The first 5 songs above were rerecorded for "Meet Me in Margaritaville" in 2002.

The song Floridays was rerecorded for the Hoot movie soundtrack in 2006.

Margaritaville was rerecorded in 1999 with Spanish lyrics and released as promotional item with the debut of Margaritaville Tequila.

Livingston's gone to Texas was originally recorded in 1971 for the album "High Cumberland Jubilee". It was rerecorded in 1974 for the album "Living and Dying in 3/4 Time"
