Final Thursday of July @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning!

August will be upon us tomorrow -- how does this happen so quickly

Tons of water, thunder & lightning from the sky. Won't need that sprinkler system for a few days (hopefully).

Off to food shop (which I didn't do yesterday), then yoga at 3:30.

Funny when you're cooped up inside from crappy outside weather you think of things that should be done....like clean out the fridge. I haven't done that since we moved in (13 months ago).....so -- before I load it up with newly purchased stuff I will empty and wipe it down. No need to jump for joy upon hearing this news [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

Have a more exciting day than me !

Good morning Linda and BN! :)

I'm watering my plants today, exciting huh?? ;)

Did a lot of cleaning/organizing on Monday, so I'm taking it easy today.

Enjoy your fridge cleaning. :D

Good Morning Ladies....those to come!
Our 1 month+ bathroom remodel finish line is in sight. I don't want to harp on it, but it's been a stressful 1 month.
At this point I really don't care what it looks like, just having a functional shower, toilet & bathroom sink is/will be a blessing. [smilie=whistle.gif]

Enjoy your final of July gang!!

So, I've been having to give blood every 5-7 weeks for about a year now because of a condition known as Hemochromatosis. My Iron levels are now in a normal range. My ferritin levels started out, about a year ago, at 1067 (normal is 15-150). After yesterday's blood test it's now 257!! So it's coming down.. YAY!!! :D

Wow! That was a high number. Great that is dropping.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good news on the blood test Penny.

It was supposed to be cooler today and I guess it was, the heat index is only 103 this afternoon.

My exciting day consisted of laundry and plant watering! Whoop-de-do!
All day long, it looked as if it was going to rain any minute, but so far nada!

Penny - glad your frequent blood donations are bringing your ferritin level down! [smilie=coolup.gif]
Will you need to continue with this forever, or is there another treatment available once the level gets into range?

Dr. C - Hip Hip Horray that your bathroom reno end is in sight!
We did ours over a few years ago, and it was a PITA... but the results were well worth it!

Your day was exactly the same as mine.. including the rain

That's a good question. I haven't asked that question YET. :)

I am a bit over the weather here at the moment.

We've had a couple of weeks of drizzle and then some rain, the rain was welcome. Now we're having clear nights with below freezing nights and cloudy and cold days with high humidity.

I have a whole bunch of things in the workshop that are either about to be or part way through painting. Because of the temperature and humidity I can't paint as the finish will be terrible. It looks like they'll be sitting there few a few more weeks

Then, to top it off, I got a minor cut on a finger while gardening, I put on a band-aid (sticking plaster) to keep the dirt out. Later I was fixing something on the workbench with some extra thin CA glue (crazy glue I think you call it). I must have let a drop of glue escape and it landed on the band-aid. When I went to take the band-aid off, I found it well and truly glued to my finger. I then had it stick said finger into acetone to dissolve the glue. Geeez Louise did that sting when the acetone got into the cut! At least it cleaned out the cut I suppose :)

Good news on the blood test, MsMod!

Here in the Upper LH Corner we have a summertime celebration called Seafair that takes place the last week of July and the first week of August. Not unlike Mardi Gras, there are community parades and street fairs and lots of ancillary activities going on. The centerpiece (for some) is the Unlimited Hydroplane races that take place on Lake Washington (since Seafair's inception in 1950). I remember going down to the lake shore with my mom and dad when I was five or six years old and many times since then. It’s all become too commercial and I haven’t been down in years, but still have the memories….
The Navy Blue Angels are in town to perform over the race course on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and they are practicing today. In recent years, a big pastime for many has been reading all the comments from Karens on the interweb complaining about the noise and waste of taxpayer dollars. The ultimate Karen has to be this lady:
A Seattle, Washington, woman has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Navy’s elite high-flying aerobatics squadron, the Blue Angels, blaming them for killing “the greatest cat that ever lived” with the “sonic assaults” they inflict during their annual August show over Puget Sound.
Lauren Ann Lombardi filed the lawsuit in federal court alleging that her 14-year-old cat “Layla,” which she loved like a daughter, died as a result of the Blue Angels “auditory carpet bombing.”
The suit says the elderly cat’s health started deteriorating after the Blue Angels’ show in August 2024 and their most recent show was the final straw.
“Layla’s final days on Earth were marred by sadistic suffering – cowering in terror beneath furniture while her ailing heart struggled against the Blue Angels’s relentless noise pollution,” the lawsuit reads. “Layla died knowing only fear when she should have known only love.

A front went through, but again no rain... but it's now 72 with a breeze, so I opened windows.
