Re: AUGUST is here FRIDAY @ the MSC
Good morning Linda and Mel!
E's been working at home on Friday's for the last few months, but today there's a board meeting for his company, so he went into the office.
We'll be going to our usual Friday dinner place (Dukes). Last week they surprised me with a Happy Retirement card, and everyone in the restaurant signed it.
I have a dishwasher to unload, and a load of laundry to wash, but that's about it here.
Back to the mid 80's today.
Have a good Friday!

Re: AUGUST is here FRIDAY @ the MSC
Good morning.
Very strange situation this morning. The lights in both bathrooms are out. All my kitchen appliances work but the lights in the kitchen are out. The washer and dryer work but the lights in the laundry room are out. All the other lights - entry hall, both bedrooms, dining room and living room - are working. I had hot water when I took a shower (in the dark) so my water heater is working. The a/c is working. The TV and computer are working. I flipped the switches on the circuit breaker but that didn't help. I called the electric company but they just have an automated system to report power outages. I'll try again after I call Spectrum. I have cable service but I don't have Internet access and my Wi-Fi is down.

Good Morning Gang!
TGIF. Very pleasant weekend weather forthcoming...other than the Canadian wildfire smoke but will deal with it.
Besides helping setting up some tables & whatnot for one of Lynn's friends daughter's baby shower tomorrow morning no real plans.
May get with a buddy & try to formulate some college football roadtrip plans. Also could consider making some vacay plans for Lynn & I. Then again, maybe not![noeyedear-shrugging [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]](./images/smilies/noeyedear-shrugging.gif)

It sounds like a tripped or bad circuit breaker... Are the breakers in the electrical service box labeled?LIPH wrote: August 1, 2025 9:50 am Good morning.

It could also be a tripped GFCI, either in the kitchen or the bathroom. If a GFCI is tripped, all outlets/lights downstream of it in a circuit will be out too.

I checked the outlets, there are only 2 GFCI. One is in the second bathroom and the other is in the kitchen. Nothing is plugged into either one, I reset both of them and still no lights.

Re: AUGUST is here FRIDAY @ the MSC
Is there a labeled circuit breaker corresponding to the affected areas? It's rare, but circuit breakers can go bad.
Do those two GFCI outlets work? Typically, they are only required when near a water source, like a kitchen or bathroom sink. The one in your second bathroom is probably on the same circuit as your first bathroom and protects it as well.
Sounds like you may need to replace the condo.....

I never had anything plugged into either of those outlets. Just to check them I plugged my phone charger into each one and they both started charging my phone so the outlets work.

I also have a paper shredder that I keep in the laundry room on the opposite side from the washer and dryer. I tried to shred something and I didn't work. I unplugged it, brought it out to the dining room and plugged it into the outlet next to the dining room table. It shredded like a champ.

My diagnosis, from 2,500 miles away, is that you have a bad circuit breaker....

Re: AUGUST is here FRIDAY @ the MSC
I called the electric company again and finally got to speak to a human being. She told me what I was expecting to hear, I should call an electrician. This really isn't something I would consider an emergency so I'm going to wait until Monday, an electrician would probably charge more over the weekend.
In the meantime, today is International Beer Day so I shall observe the holiday in an appropriate manner.

Just to add to my day, I turned the dining room light on and one of the bulbs blew. I shouldn't complain too much about that. I've been here almost 13 years, the light fixture has 5 bulbs and I'm still working with 3 originals.

Re: AUGUST is here FRIDAY @ the MSC
Hi there! We drove some back roads to a boat ramp I haven't used in 35 years and found my old fishing buddy coming in. We had a nice visit, then off to Red Lobster for an overpriced lunch.
Larry, I think Mel is spot on with the breaker. It will take 10 minutes to swap out, but the work isnever cheap. Lucky for me a friend can fix my breakers.

If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

If celebrating beer day includes a trip out to an establishment, and while you’re out they have problems with taps…..I’d say you’re doomed Larry…LIPH wrote: August 1, 2025 2:47 pm I called the electric company again and finally got to speak to a human being.
