The Seaboard is Free of the Storm FRIDAY@ the MSC

Post by bodypainter »

Good morning BN. Erin is out to sea, so YAY!Erie is hosting the Tall Ships this weekend. I love touring the old ships, but it's too much for Anne. The last time I went I toured the Bounty replica used in the movie, Jimmy's video Of OPH and Pirates of the Carribean. Shortly after, it burnt to the waterline.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Morning everyone!!

Hope you had an alibi for the ship burning :) I am enjoying one of my last three day weekends before school in back in full swing. Slowly working on starting chores, but have been enjoying the sun and songs of the birds.

Not much else exciting here. It is nice to not have a full calendar this weekend. Laundry and house cleaning has definitely been on the back burner these past few weeks, it is shows.😳

Well, off to play Cinderella for a while. Have a wonderful day, all!
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Good Morning.....and good news on Erin. I hadn't gotten an update since yesterday afternoon & I thought there still was some major concerns at that point
Will be nice to get this Friday in the books. My head is just spinning regarding so many different things. But I will not go full complaint department here. Think I'll dial up some Buffett tunes on the computer while I work & drop into Island time. Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On :pirate: 8)

Good morning.

I saw the tall ships twice, once in New York and once in Baltimore. I never went on any of them and toured them, just saw them in the harbor, or harbour, whatever floats your boat.

Afternoon all! :)

I've been on some big ships (not the tall kind) in San Diego and in Corpus Christi. Those were fun. :)

Up at 6:00, showered and went to the grocery store. Started another load of laundry. (It's nice to be retired so I don't have to do it every weekend). :D

Out to dinner at Dukes - my face doesn't look as awful, but still has some bruising around my eyes.

One of E's co-workers from North Dakota was in town for meetings and brought us some fresh caught walleye, that he was able to keep frozen. I'll either make those tomorrow, or we'll have steaks.

That's about all from here. :)

I'm at Bohemian Bull having a cold beverage. The TV above the bar where I'm sitting had a women's rugby match, England and the US. I don't know how scoring works in rugby but England won 69-7. :o

I've been on 3 aircraft carriers, the Intrepid in New York, the Yorktown in Charleston and I think it's the Midway in San Diego. I've also been on a battleship in Wilmington, NC. The aircraft carriers were huge, you can get a good workout walking around on them.

What? When did this happen?

I sailed/crewed Bounty as a deckhand a couple of times when she was resident in Sydney at the Australian Maritime Museum. I was crewing other tallships and various steam boats for the Sydney Heritage Fleet and the museum used to borrow us when they had sailing days.

I will refrain from mentioning the naval vessels I have been on - it's a fairly long list. Then again it is what I was doing for a living at the time. (I didn't serve in the Royal Australian Navy, I just used be part of the teams that fixed them when they came home)

Evening all!
Boy were the weather-people wrong about today's forecast...
We were supposed to have a lot of wind and pockets of rain (some heavy) from Erin (who I guess turned back out to sea more sharply than expected)
Instead, it was a GORGEOUS day clear, and dry in the mid 70s, not even any wind worth mentioning! I'll take them being "wrong" in this way!

I've seen the tall ship in a few places... NYC, Newport, RI, here in Boston, and up in Portland ME. But it was only in Maine that we toured any. Well, I have been on the USS Constitution also, as it is docked in Boston most of the time.

Whew!

Crewing big sailing ships is crazy fun. A heap of work. On the James Craig we had a sailing crew of around 30. In her heyday when she was a working cargo ship, the entire ships compliment was just 17. On occasions ever fewer than that!

It is very much a "boys and their big toys" kind of thing! Having said that we had plenty of female staff as does the navy. So boys toys may no longer be appropriate :D

Late check in.

No Erin issues here in SC. Today was a little cloudy but that’s about it. And we’re fine with that!

See y’all tomorrow.
