I have to find something to do today. I went to St. Louis yesterday afternoon and saw the Gateway Arch (no, I did not take the ride to the top), the Mississippi River and Busch Stadium where the Cardinals play. There's a casino in the hotel but I don't feel like spending the day gambling. I suppose I can find another brewery to visit.
Ahhh, I liked St. Louis. The Arch is cool (we did go up in it), and have been to a Cardinals game. Imo's pizza is a good place, if you like a thin crust pizza. But another brewery sounds like a great idea.
I think I'll start my day like I did yesterday, coffee and a danish in the coffee shop downstairs. I googled Imo's and there are several locations within 5 miles of the hotel so that's a possibility for later, after a brewery visit. And I'm not going to Anheuser Busch. I can get their beers anyplace, I want to try something I can't get back home.
I don't have to worry about checking for my flight tomorrow, I have early bird check in with Southwest so they'll check me in automatically and email my boarding pass.
Years ago I had an optometrist who I considered to be a pretty laid-back and straight-laced woman. At one of my yearly check-ups, the fact that I was a Parrot Head came out and she exclaimed that she absolutely loved Jimmy Buffett. She didn’t own any of his music but had been on a car trip with a friend that had a couple of his CDs that they listened to. Her favorite song was “Fruitcakes” and especially the line “Religion, Religion,
Oh, there's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning “
She said “I know exactly what he’s talking about!”
I was just minding my own business and the the next thing I know I''m the same age as old people….

The brewery I decided to go to doesn't open until noon (it's only 11:00 here, central time zone) so against my better judgement I went to the casino. High roller that I am, I sat at a penny slot machine. I won $111.64. I lost $20.00, also at a penny slot machine, when I got here Wednesday afternoon so I'm on the plus side and I plan on staying there, no more gambling on this trip.
When I got to the brewery I asked if they did flights. Most places I've been to that do flights give you either 4 or 5. The guy behind the bar said they do 4 oz. pours but no set number of beers, I could get as many as I wanted. I went with 4, the 4 with the lowest abv. They have one that I might have tried just because of the name, Vulcan's Hammer, but it's 11% abv and I have to drive when I leave here. The beer is pretty good but the place is a dump.
We’re heading to the Pelicans ball game tonight. Our good friend/neighbor used to work for ESPN doing production for the baseball games. He does the same thing here partime. Each shift he works he gets game vouchers. This will be our 2nd free game.

I went to Imo's and ordered the smallest size they had, 8 inches. It was pretty good but I didn't like the way they cut it into little square pieces instead of slices.

Yeah, it's the "St. Louis Style". We get them shipped to CO, cause E loves them.
There's a bar inside the casino. When I was in the casino this morning I noticed they had a sign advertising a Beer Of The Month. It's a beer I can't get back home so now that I had my pizza I decided to come and try the beer. I asked the bartender for it and he had no clue what I was talking about. I pointed to the sign and said "that beer". He told me I knew more about what they had than he did. That's sad.
One side of the casino is non-smoking and the other side is smoking. I made the mistake of going to the smoking side. A guy just sat 2 seats away from me at the bar and lit a cigar. I have to stop sipping and start gulping so I can finish my beer and get out of here.

I walked through a cigar bar attached to a venue to see Mac McAnally. There was a solid cloud of smoke above the seats. I told my youn friend it was like going back to the seventies.
How was the show?
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

It was good but if The Coral Reefers go back on tour next year I don't know if I'll see them again. As much as I like Mac, he really isn't a front man. And I can do without Scotty Emerick. I always liked The Doobie Brothers but I had never seen them in concert. They were just ok, nothing to write home about.

THANK YOU!! I thought I was the only person who felt that way about him!
I know Mac does not like to be front & center... but maybe Peter could do some of that... anyone but Scotty.
BTW, I meant to ask you the other day, now that Missouri is checked off the list, how many states do you have left to go?
In Boston with... "this caribbean soul I can barely control and Long Island's always here in my heart"
