Goodbye September TUESDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning!

It's still raining in these here parts. We're pretty sure our lawn guy will need to mow whenever the rain leaves. Last week he said he thought he was done for the season and it was time for the grass to start going dormant. We're thinking that may no longer be the case.

We have nothing (again) scheduled today which is highly unusual but I'll take it.

Back in June our HOA board requested a speed study since our speed limit is 15 and there have been many complaints about speeders. We got the results and it looks like only 2 roads (at 1 specific area on each) qualify for speed humps. The calculations of # of cars, their avg speeds, & times of days is very interesting. The 2 roads that qualify recorded up to 50 & 60 mph  There has been quite a large & opinionated response on our community FB page to the results of the study. Most are asking for a revisiting of the 2 spot limits for the humps.

Good morning Linda.

I had a dentist appointment 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have crowns on 3 teeth. They showed me my x-rays, there was a slight space between one of the crowns and my gum. The dentist said if anything got in that space it could cause an infection so the crown has to be replaced. I went yesterday to have the old one removed and a temporary crown put in place. I have to go back in 2 weeks, or sooner if the permanent crown is ready before then. I'll be getting a lot of points in the rewards program for one of my credit cards.

Good afternoon guy & gal......and those to come!
Another beautiful day here in Michigan Land. Sunny/Mostly Sunny skies & upper 70's to mid 80's for the foreseeable future.
Baseball playoffs have begun. After our Tigers blew the humongous division lead it's a whole new season now, so let's see what happens.

PLAY BALL!!!! AGAIN

I went to one of our local craft brewers for lunch today. When I left I stopped at Total Wine and cruised through the single beer section to see if they had anything new. I picked up a Canadian beer because Canada Beer Day is coming up next month. I also found a beer I never heard of before from Georgia. Not the state just to the south of me but the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. They had a beer from Lithuania so I grabbed that one too. I'm an equal opportunity beer drinker. I wish they had something from Kansas and West Virginia, I've had at least one beer brewed in every state except those two.

Hi there! My fishing buddy leaves for the Pittsburgh airport at 4AM to catch a flight at 8 for Hawaii. I poked the bear saying that for 10 days he won't have to go to any volleyball games. His step grandaughter plays varsity and his wife never misses anything the kid does, dragging him along.
He replied, almost growling,"We are going to a game tonight."
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Hard to believe October starts tomorrow! It's still shorts and T-shirt weather here in MA!
I did not do much today other than shopping for bedding. The new queen-size bed for our daughter's old room is being delivered Monday.

@Larry - interesting that you were able to find beers from the countries of Lithuania & Georgia but not the states of Kansas or West Virginia!

Hope our fearless mod and her hubster had safe travels down to Texas.

They had one from Israel too but I had that before. It was ok but not good enough that I would want to have it again.

Really, two weeks for a crown?

Even here in a relative backwater in one of the least populated states in Oz I can get a crown made and fitted same day (about one and a half hours to mill it up).

It's pretty cool tech - they do a 3D laser scan in your mouth to get the outside shape, the dentist does their grinding and shaping for the underside, that gets scanned, then a CNC Mill cuts out the crown. The dentist fettles and fits it, then does a final shape and polish and Hey! Presto! a new chomper is in place.

Must be the way crowns are designed or material used?
Or we just make it complicated due to our weird health system.

Indeed we did!! Got to the airport fine, flight was fine (and a few minutes early arriving), got luggage and rental car fine, drive down to hotel (for our first night) was fine. 😁 Weather is wonderful, warm but minimal humidity. Had an amazing dinner, then back to the hotel for a few drinks at the pool bar.
Leave this hotel in the morning to drive to the ferry to get to our rental house, grocery shopping before we get there.
Hey Larry! TNT is showing a pre-season Avalanche vs. Knights. End of 2nd, Knights up 2-1. Booo!! 😉
Time to relax with an adult beverage and get some sleep.
Sleep sweet.

Oh, as far as a crown goes, I had one that was over 10 years old and my tooth that it was under decayed a bit more, so that's why they had to replace it. My dentists office also was able to mold the crown in their office, it just took about 2 hours. 😁

Our dentist's office uses the scanning thing for crown measurements, too. But they also do an old-fashioned mold to make the temporary crown right there. The scans are sent off to a lab that makes the permanent crown. It is usually back in a week, but they always set the follow-up "installation" appointment for 2 weeks just to be sure, which sounds like what Larry's dentist did.
