Just Another Monday @ the MSC

Post by big john »

Guess I'll just grab the keys and get the place unlocked. Only thing I can find
special about this day is the 1948 "Dewey defeats Truman" headline. :pirate:

Good morning, John. The paper that published that headline had done a phone survey before the election. The majority of people called were republicans and they were wealthy enough to own phones. The paper ran with a lopsided survey.

Good morning John and Bill.

I did laundry this morning and I'm waiting for the dryer to shut off so I can fold everything and put it away. After that's done I'm going to Bohemian Bull to celebrate National Sandwich Day, half price sandwiches. I think I'll have a Cuban, I like a good hot Cuban.

Good morning John, Bill, and Larry! :)

Had an early Dr. appointment this morning (annual check up), and E drove me since my eyes are still wonky.

Started a load of laundry and fill in a few other chores.

Have a good Monday!! :)

Good afternoon BN'ers!

As today I am back to the office after a week off for vacay, I'm gonna tweak your thread title a bit John.
It's "Just Another Manic Monday" @the MSC :o
Had a computer that had the old Windows 7 system on it that crashed just before I left for vacay & for a particular reason I REALLY still need it.
They took it into the shop & while I was gone was able to fix it & just brought it back. I was skeptical but it seems to be functioning properly so I'm quite pleased with that situation!

Who are the 2 hot Cubans? I don't recognize either of them.

For the record, I never dated a Cuban girl but in college I dated a Spanish girl for about a year. Hottest girl I ever dated in my life. She could make me sit up and beg like the dog that I am. She was a couple of years younger than I am, probably the reason I go for younger women, as someone else once said.

One of the beers they have at Bohemian Bull is a wheat beer called Banana Hammock. Google Tideland Brewing Banana Hammock and look at the artwork on the can

I do admit to being over the weather at the moment.

It has been windy and rainy for what feels like weeks.

Saturday we had a nice enough day, but back to wind and rain. It is November, when it should be starting to get warm and hot, Think low to mid eighties.

But no, yesterday 60°F, today 55°. Last night we even had the wood fire going. Got down to 41°F.

It is also sticky humid.

That is right up there with the early editions of the Boston Globe after SB XLII touting the Patriots' completion of a "Perfect Season" Oops!
And they did not learn their lesson, either... as they also published an early one mourning their loss to the Falcons after SB LI

Food service at Bohemian Bull was really slow today, the bartender said there was only one person working in the kitchen. It took almost 40 minutes to get my Cuban sandwich. When I was ready to leave the bartender gave me my check and said he took the beers off because of the long wait for the food. I added up what the bill would have been with the 2 beers I had, plus the regular price of the Cuban instead of half price for National Sandwich Day. I tipped based on full price for everything and added a couple of bucks extra for getting my beers comped. It's not the bartender's fault the kitchen was short staffed and he's a good guy, he's one of the holdovers from when Old Chicago was in that location.

Any day the wind hits 10 mph on the river I stay away. On some lakes I could fish the leeward side or sheltered coves. If the wind is from the south, it blows upriver, from the west, upriver, from the east and north, downriver with nowhere to hide. I don't like wind.

Casting in windy conditions is the worst. I also hate, when out on the water, that roar that wind seems to generate around your ears, blocking everything else out.

Yes thanks for asking.
Enjoyed some well earned R&R......very low key.
Morning action around the pool & afternoon action listening to island vibe music (plus a great Irish singer who did requests).
Pretty basic vacay.
