Good Morning Ladies............BN'ers to come!
Island....yeah.....great song. And in the trop-rock music world many many cool songs referencing islands & island time appeal to me.
Happy Island time Thursday everyone!

Hi there! Islands have fascinated since I was 6 when my 2 older sisters paddled us to an "island" on a New Hampshire lake. It was a rock outcropping with a few shrubs and a small sand spit. Robinson Cruso and Treasure Island were beloved childhood stories. Our gazebo rises a step higher than the deck based on the tree house in Swiss Family Robinson.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.
One Particular Harbour and Tin Cup Chalice are probably my favourite Buffett "island" songs.
I realise I am committing an act of heresy but lately my current favourite island song is We're All Here by Kenny Chesney.
The bar and place in the song describes so many places and low dives I have visited in my travels. In fact as he describes the bar I am immediately transported to a couple of places.
The front bar of the Hotel Santo in Luganville Vanuatu on a Friday night in the late 1980s and early 1990s. All of the people in the song existed in one form or another in that bar.
Then there is the aptly named Reefers Rum Bar in Port Vila, Vanuatu. It had a perfect tropical vibe, under a large natangora fale with an extensive rum list (not as extensive as the Barrel o Rum in Key West had). Fantastic food as well. Jimmy's music would pop up all the time.
Sadly the restaurant was destroyed in the earthquake that almost wiped Port Vila off the map.

I agree with your 2 Buffett song choices as other wonderful "island" tunes! Especially OPH, it is my ringtone for our home phone.
As to the Chesney song, I don't think it is heresy at all!
Every time I hear it on RM, it makes me laugh! I am pretty sure many of us in here like Kenny's music.

My Ringtone for my cell phone is, "If the Phone Doesn't Ring, It's Me".
One of my basic requirements on every cell phone I've ever bought was that it has a "normal" ringtone.
I don't want no chimes, or gongs, or electronic beeps, I want my phone to ring when I have a call....

That's fun!
I was not very precise before... the OPH tone is on my cell, for when I am out and the call is FROM my house phone. I have a bunch set for specific people because I do not always have my cell on me at home (it is usually on the desk in the kitchen) so if I hear my "generic" ring tone of "Who Can It Be Now" I know I don't have to bother going to get it! Family & friends text notifications are all different as well. It comes in quite handy!
