PHriends Gather FRIDAY@ the MSC
Good morning BN. We see Peter and Jim Mayer at a charity event tonight. The weather is good for the drive, so we will enjoy the trip.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good morning Bill and Debbie!
Bill, have a great time, and safe travels.
I'm off to the store in a few hours, picking up snacks for the car for our drive to OK tomorrow.
I'm 90% packed, just a few last minute things that can't be done until tomorrow morning.
Have a good Friday!!

Good Morning Gang!
Safe travels & enjoy the show Bill. Glad the weatherman is being kind to you.
Happy trails & enjoy your family holiday in OK Penny, hope the weatherman is kind to you as well.
Speaking of the weather, I've been under it all week. Totally crappy. Starting to get the crud out. Hopefully I'll kick it over the weekend.
Enjoy your 21st day of November everyone.

Good morning. It's another late November 70 degree day. Now I have to decide what I want to do to enjoy it.
I get a channel on my cable system called Heroes & Icons, it shows reruns of old TV shows. A few weeks ago they started showing CSI, the original one in Las Vegas. I liked that show so I've been watching it. In one episode a few days ago Grissom asked Warrick how much he weighed. He said "about 195, give or take a donut". They aren't even police officers and they're making donut jokes.

We've had a busy week at the flower shop this week. And I'm working a half day tomorrow. Just continuing to get bills paid from my dad. The clean out of the house is scheduled for December 8, 9, and 10. Hopefully after that we can get the vehicles and boats sold and then the house.
Have a good weekend Pholks.

One of my neighbors told me about a burger joint that has bison burgers on the menu. I went there for lunch today and they don't have bison burgers anymore. I had a regular burger and fries. The burger was dry, the fries were soggy and the service was bad. I won't be going back.

Re: PHriends Gather FRIDAY@ the MSC
Saturday morning has dawned overcast and bleak. Forecasts are for "heavy showers" which down here in the deep south means "a bit of rain or squall". Definitely not what tropical folk would characterise as heavy rain!
Just sat down to strap my leg - I gave myself and almighty cork in my left quads. I was grubbing out some stumps and roots and miscued with a mattock when it clipped the wire fence. I drove the butt of the handle into my leg at full speed. Yes, it hurt!
I happened to visit the physio for my hand and she was more concerned with the huge bruised lump, but she agreed there's not much you can do other than ice and strapping. I haven't had a cork like this since I played footy all those decades ago.

Re: PHriends Gather FRIDAY@ the MSC
"Quadriceps contusion, or a ‘corked thigh’ as it is commonly known, results from a severe impact to the thigh that compresses the quadriceps muscle against the hard surface of the femur (thigh bone). This often causes a deep rupture of muscle tissue followed by haemorrhage and inflammation. While this type of injury can occur in other regions, such as the calf or upper arm, it is most common in the thigh.
It often occurs in contact sports such as Australian football and rugby, or in sports like cricket, hockey or lacrosse where a hard ball or object may strike the thigh."

Is the term corked thigh not that common over there?SeattleParrotHead wrote: November 21, 2025 5:10 pm "Quadriceps contusion, or a ‘corked thigh’ as it is commonly known, results from a severe impact to the thigh that compresses the quadriceps muscle against the hard surface of the femur (thigh bone). Maybe it's all the protective padding your footy players wear?

Rabbitz - I've never heard it, and my son has had some very nasty thigh bruises playing soccer and pond hockey!

And thanks for the explanation, Mr. SPH!!
