Festivus for the Rest of Us Tuesday at the MSC

Post by PetalMel »

Morning, Kids!!!

Quiet Tuesday here. I hosted the neighborhood hot cocoa and cookie stop last night as the high school choir caroled through the subdivision. Always a lot of fun, but I am so glad boredom is on the agenda today.

Wishing everyone rest, peace, love, luck, and tolerable grievances during your Festivus traditions today!! πŸ’•πŸŽ„πŸ’•
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Good morning Mel and everyone else who visits!

Hot cocoa sounds nice. Now, I'm thinking of making some today!

My fever has held around 98/99...I wonder if that's the medicine or if I'm actually getting better. Anyways, just doing slightly boring things today: cleaning up my computer's storage, looking at Christmas sales, and making beef stew.

Hope your Tuesday will be merry and BRIGHT! :D
Jerry...from Massachusetts. I'd like to go where it's warm! :D

Good morning Mel and Jerry.

Why am I awake this early? It's 5:30 in Vegas. As is my tradition, after I checked in and got settled in the room yesterday my first stop was the Yard House, 100 beers on tap, pretty good food and I had a $25 gift card.

There's construction in the lobby of the Flamingo, part of it is walled off with signs that say "COMING SOON" (I'm assuming a new restaurant), another part is roped off and just empty, no slot machines or table games. The old Margaritaville space is still vacant but there's a sign out front that Luke Combs, the country singer, is opening a place there in the spring. Joining Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean who both opened bars here last year.

I'm going to the Vegas Golden Knights game tonight, my 8th Golden Knights game in the 9 seasons they've been in the league. I missed 2020 because of COVID.

I might try the Cuban restaurant in the Flamingo today, it opened the day I left to go back home last year so I didn't get to eat there.

Good morning Mel, Jerry, and Larry! :)

Larry, hope the Knights win for you today. (Only cause they're not playing the Avalanche) ;)

Enjoy your boredom, Mel. :D

Jerry, I hope you ARE getting better!

I did a little more purging of E's desk, and medicinal drawer. Still no combination. Haven't given up YET. My goodness, that man kept SO MUCH stuff. :-?

That and some laundry to do is my day today.

The third Golden Knights game I went to was against the Avalanche and Vegas got blown out, I think the score was 7-2 or 7-3. They're playing the San Jose Sharks tonight, the 8th different team I've seen them play in the 8 games I've gone to.

It's still early. Should I have breakfast or just get a cup of coffee and wait until lunch to chow down?

I also have to make my way down to the south end of the Strip, I want to see how progress they've made on the new baseball stadium.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I had my 1st (yearly) IV infusion this morning at 9:00. It was 9:40 before they started bc there was a "discrepancy" in the instruction that my PCP sent.....UGH. It was finally figured out but 3x my BP was 188/70's. That is extremely high for me. Thinking it was just the stress of the situation and the fact I've still got the ulner nerve (or whatever it is) pain. We got home at 11:00, had some Bruch and Im heading out at 11:40 for my 6-mo dental checkup.

We are hosting 4 neighbors for Christmas dinner; we're contributing lasagna and green beans topped with browned bread crumbs. The guests are bringing Italian bread, hand held (never heard of this) Caesar salad, and desserts. I got all the ingredients for our stuff yesterday when I was at Walmart getting a hair cut (not actually WALMART but the salon inside) :). Thankful I don't need to go food shopping until Dec 26.

It's 9:15 in Las Vegas and it's 55 degrees. They have the a/c running in the monorail cars. It's a bit chilly.

The Flamingo, you say? I've got old pictures of it from the 70s in my basement. Maybe someday, I'll actually visit Vegas. Have fun :D :D

Bryan and I are both off today so we went to my dad's house to see the cleaning crews progress and we left with 2 tubs of the photo albums I have been searching for, so MERRY CHRISTMAS to me! There's still so much to do. The garage, screened in patio room and the basement are still packed. They have filled 2 30 yd dumpsters and there's another empty on in the driveway. They probably won't be back until Christmas, so....
Bryan is at his eye doctor appointment and I'm waiting for him in the car.

Hi there! Anne had an appointment at the hospital at 9, we had a long breakfast, then back to the hospital for my CT scan.

It's an ugly, grey day with drizzle and fog. With last night's snowfall we have 45 inches. Last year was 80 some inches total.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

The Cuban restaurant was really good. The food is delicious, the service was excellent and the decor is beautiful. There's a small stage in the middle of the place so I guess they have live music at night. They have a 3 course lunch special for $29.99 and since a Cuban sandwich is $26 by itself I went with the special. Ham croquettes, fried chicken with something called moro rice and flan for dessert. I don't know what kind of spices they use but the chicken was great.

I was walking through the casino on my way to the elevator. Some woman came up behind me and asked if I wanted a massage. She was wearing fishnet stockings and a skirt that barely covered her ginormous a$$. I was skeptical of her qualifications to be a masseuse. [smilie=pimp.gif]

Maybe another job description. ;)

So, this day kept me busy. I went through file cabinet(s), desk drawers and piles of stuff. I filled up 2 bags of trash. I still didn't find the safe combination.

E's Mom and brother let me know she wants to have a church service in OK in January. Asked Cameron if he wanted to go, yup. So tomorrow I'll make some reservations.. See if "Hilton Properties", "Enterprise car rental", and "Southwest Airlines" can transfer any of E's points to me.

And on another note, the safe came from my sister. She still had the combination in her file of that kind of thing. She gave it to me to write down, but no. :( She and I will try it again together tomorrow.

I JUST had a phone call from the owner, and tasting room manager (who we like) of our favorite brewery. They want to put an article about E on their website. I approved. They also offered their brewery for a Celebration of Life for E. :D (Larry knows the brewery). Perfect.

Earlier in the day, the HR person (Danielle) who lives in our apartment complex brought over a couple of bags. One with some treats. One with notes from about 35 people (I can't read them yet). Then another envelope had about $500 in gift cards, and $350 in cash. THEN she tells me she's not done. Asks me if I had a Venmo account. Yes. Okay, then there are people who want to send you more gifts.  :D

Humbled on E's behalf. And so incredibly grateful.
