We were across the street from our hotel yesterday when the power went out and everything shut down. We sat in a covered area and watched the world blow by for about and hour until things let up a little and we rushed across the street to our hotel. They said they were trying to get the emergency generators going and the elevators would be working soon after. We eventually made it back to our dark room on the 21st floor and sat reading our kindles unrtil the power came back on about an hour later. Some time later we were headed down to the street to see what was possible for dinner. We were just stepping onto the elevator when the power went out again... thirty seconds more and we would have been between floors when the elevator stopped! Back to the room for some more darkness and kindle! The power came back on again about an hour later. We ventured downstairs and found that all the restaurants in the hotel were closed. The only thing open was the ABC store and they were only taking cash. Dinner was a bags of Maui Potato Chips, a peanut butter cookie, and a can of ginger ale. We're headed for the airport soon to see if we can get home. 🛫
Holy cow x3!!!
That’s a lot of scary!

We had to take an alternate route because of downed power lines and trees. Unfortunately Bryan's car was hit by not one, but two large branches and his windshield is damaged. The delivery driver had the same thing happen to her and the shop van's windshield is damaged too. I made it home unscathed, thank goodness. Bryan and our driver are both unharmed but it was scary.
Happy Saturday.

Yikes! Glad to hear you’re both safe.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

When I went to DMV last week to renew my driver's license, they punched a hole in my old license and gave it back to me, printed a temporary license on a sheet of paper and told me to fold it up and keep it in my wallet, then said it would take 15-30 days to get the new permanent license. It came in today's mail, only 11 days. The old about to expire license and the temporary license have both been run through the shredder.

South Carolina driver's licenses used to be good for 10 years, now it's only 8 years but it's 8 years from the day I renewed it. It used to expire on my birthday.

I have an expired license. I have to go in person due to a new picture required. When I made an appointment before it expired there was a 3 month wait thanks to the real ID crap. So when appointment day came I was in hospital. Made another appointment with a long wait, went to hospital again. So I gave up. F NJ DMV.

H kids! Sure sounds like it has been eventful for everyone.

Linda, glad to read that surgery seems to have gone well.

Bill, bummer about the power outage but glad you were kind of able to get around. A few weeks ago that would have been much more difficult. I love my whole house generator. Expensive purchase but worth it.

Ravi! Nice to see you!!!

Moogy!! Nice to see you as well—stay healthy💕

Hoping the SPHs are able to get out safe and sound. Holy cow, that must be scary!!!

Glad to read the wind damage for Bryan and Tammy wasn’t worse.

Everyone else, I hope your day ends well. I am laying low getting over a sinus infection that knocked me out this week. Funny how much it takes out of us. Got grocery shopping and laundry done today—it was all I could handle.

Take care, all. I am going to turn in early and test. Hope everyone else is able to do the same.đź’•
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Sorry, Moooogy. Colorado has been Real ID crap since 2012, which makes travel a bit easier. Not that I'll be traveling much anymore...

I had to take a vision test and they took a new picture too. They used to accept a copy of your last vision test if it was less than a year ago. I don't know if that's still true, my last vision test at the eye doctor was less than a year ago but I forgot to bring it with me.

I'll have to check to see if CO does the same thing, cause I'll have a vision test around October, and February 2027 will be my expiration.

In 2018 after laser surgery, the eye surgeon said ,"Good news! "You are 2 levels above a restricted driver's license. I saw my optometrist a month later and he said,"Good news! You are 2 levels above a restricted licensee."

I think he read the other doctor's report.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Lately I have been making some bread sticks that have bacon included in the dough. Sort of like a ficelle du lardon but with less pfaffing around.

It normally takes about three and a half hours with the three one hour proofs.

I have no idea why but today I misread the recipe and used less than half of the required yeast. After the first proof it had hardly risen, it is almost two hours into the second one hour proof and it is starting get going. It may be ready by dinner time, although I was hoping to have them for lunch. :-?

Yes, it has been one of those days.

Hey there!
Sorry, was looking for a place to plunder
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!
