Final FRIDAY of May @ the MSC
Hello Everyone!
Another month is almost over. We had more rain late yesterday and apparently overnight. We welcome it as things have been so dry here.
Kevin just saw a news report that a Portuguese Man o' War warning has been in issued for MB ....our daughter was 2 when she was stung by one in Daytona Beach (on our 1st day there). It was HORRIBLE. She had scars on her leg for 2 years from that thing that swept by her, trailing its long tentacles that pull off the beast and attached to her leg. With a purple tint, Kevin (who was swimming with the kids) couldn't see what she was screaming about. He is red/green color blind and while he didn't touch it he thought it was just some type of sea weed. He carried her to the condo pool where the lifeguard clued him in and got some vinegar to pour over it. She spent the rest of our vacation in the swimming pool. She still won't swim in ocean water where she can't see her feet.

Re: Final FRIDAY of May @ the MSC
We're headed for the airport for a quick trip down to the Bay Area (SJC) to see family and celebrate a couple of birthdays (and happy b'day to all the other BN Geminis out there......Surfpirate, Nutmeg, Marcus (Dutch Harbor PH), Kat (BEG), Auntie, Connie, rmissbrook, irishcajunphan, et al ...).
Mrs SPH and our she-'keet Nicole
are going to go shopping for maternity clothes
and I'm going to help her hubby Matt
do a little work on what will be the nursery .
Probably gonna see some 80° weather down there, so that'll be good.

Good morning Linda, Mr. SPH, and BN!
YIKES on that PMOW...
Never have encountered one.
Have a dentist appointment this afternoon, just for a cleaning. And the maintenance guys will be here to swap out my stove.
YAY!!
Otherwise, not much happening here. Some beautiful weather, but not much chance for rain.
Have a good Friday!!

Good morning.
I think the Pelicans are trying to be like their parent organization, the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs just had a 10 game losing streak. The Pelicans lost 9 in a row, won Wednesday, then lost again last night. I was thinking about going to tonight's game, it's Star Wars night, but the way they've been playing I'd rather stay home and watch the hockey game.

I just got a call on my cell phone and the caller ID was Memphis, TN. Chuck Berry died 9 years ago so I chose not to answer.

I've been getting a lot of calls on E's phone, and they are all a recorded voice discussing his Social Security and Medicare records..

Hi there! I had a great day on the river even though it was a little too windy and the fishing was slow.
Those scam calls would bother me, Penny. Luckily, I rarely get any at all.

If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Hello BN! This month flew by quickly.
I've already planned the family vacation to Acadia for the week of the 4th. Camping wednesday through friday morning, then we stay at a hotel near downtown Bar Harbor. That cost a pretty penny...
Jerry...from Massachusetts. I'd like to go where it's warm!

South Carolina's primary is June 9 but early voting started this week, I went and voted this afternoon. I never voted in a primary when I lived in New York. I'm a registered independent and NY requires you to be a member of the party in whose primary you're voting. South Carolina allows any registered voter to vote in a primary, but you have to choose which party's primary you want to vote in.

As someone who lives is a working democracy, with compulsory preferential voting, this make zero sense to me.LIPH wrote: May 29, 2026 4:53 pm South Carolina's primary is June 9 but early voting started this week, I went and voted this afternoon. You have to be a member or register with a party to vote for a party? What is the point of voting? They already know what your vote is.
Also, why make it so complex, it's almost like they were trying to stop sections of society voting.

That is how the primary system works here in Massachusetts. As an Independent (aka "unenrolled" here) I simply choose which ballot I want, either at the time of voting or when requesting a mail-in ballot.LIPH wrote: May 29, 2026 4:53 pm South Carolina's primary is June 9 but early voting started this week, I went and voted this afternoon. Also, why make it so complex, it's almost like they were trying to stop sections of society voting. We have compulsory voting - vote or be fined - so you actually get better than 90% of people voting.
This applies only to the Primary voting. When several candidate are vying withIN their party for the nomination to run in the general election.
Not "almost", it is EXACTLY what a certain party is attempting to do!

Re: Final FRIDAY of May @ the MSC
Sounds like a good trip, Jerry!!
No voting discussions here... I'm already sick of the commercials.
Dentist was fine EXCEPT for a 45 year old filling has a chip in it, so they'll be replacing it without the old silver stuff, in July.
Picked up a couple of new picture frames at Hobby Lobby for a different picture of my sister and BIL, and another one that never had a frame.
Last weekend I found a 'religious' medallion of my Father's that fell out of a baggie of pictures when he was in the Navy. I stopped at UPS and sent it to my cousin, who was my Dad's favorite nephew. They had a special relationship.
New stove being installed on Monday, since maintenance was short staffed today. I won't be here (dog sitting), so I already picked up rugs and door mats so they can bring it in easier.

We LOVE ACADIA! We have made 21 trips there. There is a wonderful trail that starts at sand beach and goes for 1,5 miles. It's easy walking with some side trails out onto the rocks. One of my favorite spots is closed due to a guy falling to his death.parrotinparadise wrote: May 29, 2026 4:31 pm Hello BN!
