Bobby G.....What happens on the pans now?

Discuss current members such as Mac McAnally, Peter Mayer, Jim Mayer, Robert Greenidge and others, or discuss past band members such as Fingers Taylor, Ralph MacDonald, and Amy Lee.

Bobby G.....What happens on the pans now?

Post by Dr.Corona »

Hate to even think about it & bring it up.
I know it's so fresh, but the tour opener is just under a month away, plus an appearance is forthcoming this Saturday in West Palm Beach at the Alan Jackson 5:00 Somewhere Fest. IMO the Steel Drums were/are a HUGE part of the Jimmy & The CRB & now JB's CR keep the party going Band. That spot has to be filled as far as I'm concerned for the tour. Gotta believe a full time replacement is being considered as we speak. Shall we expect some "studio" pan artist that is pegged to be on the tour or is they any scuttlebutt on possible short list for a permanent replacement? Anyone who may be in the know?

Heard his younger brother Roger will be taking over for this tour. He is also a steel drummer. https://bialeksmusic.com/portfolio/stee ... greenidge/

Roger stepped in for him when he was scheduled to play in Ohio two years ago with Fins to the Left. Robert made both of the "Here We Are" weekends in Indy (still the very best experience of my Parrothead life!!). He also was in Southern Illinois last year with the Boat Drunks. He looked tired but still played like back in the old days.

I have also heard that Roger will be taking over, although I wouldn't mind seeing John Patti step into that role. I am guessing they will keep the pans in the family, and I am very okay with that, too.

Still so sad to acknowledge that the CRB members are getting up there in age and that the "Not Yet" might be closer to "Yet" than we are ready to believe.
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Last night on the way home from work cranked up some Club Trini Margaritaville Late Night Live. Sounded damn good. What chemistry those CRB members had!
