Mac n Cheese TUESDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning!

We got rain -- WOOHOO!!!

Today is National Mac n Cheese Day -- yummmmm.

From classic mac and cheese made with cheddar or American cheeses to a spicy "cowboy mac" loaded with bacon and jalapeños, there is a combination for everyone. You can mix up the cheeses or load up on your favorite seasonings. It is also easy to get a perfectly toasty crust by setting the oven to broil for a couple of minutes at the end of the cooking time.

We use Kevin's Nana's homemade recipe. Made with a roux, sharp cheddar & topped with breadcrumbs.

Have a fantastic Tuesday everyone.

Good morning, Linda and BN! :)

I've not made Mac n Cheese in a long time. I still use a recipe that we learned in Home Ec in High School. :) Not baked, just stove top.

Already watered all their plants here - about 10 of them. Fed the pups. And cleaned up doggie poo. LOL!! They also put out half of an orange on their bird feeders for certain birds. :D

That's it for now. :)

Mmmmm, I love me some good Mac&Cheese! My mom made the best! Like Kevin's Nana's, from scratch, start with a roux ("Who's Your Mama, Are You Catholic, and Can You Make a Roux?"), add some elbow macaroni, top with some bread crumbs, and toss in the oven.
Unfortunately, for my kids, the best Mac&Cheese argument came down to Annie's vs. Kraft.... :(

Good morning. I'm not a mac & cheese person, I can take it or leave it.

I did laundry earlier than usual this morning. I have an appointment to donate platelets at noon and I wanted to make sure the dryer shut off before I leave.

Happy Tuesday, everyone.
Baked mac n cheese is my twice a month meal. I've never made regular mac n cheese before a few weeks ago (surprising). It turned out terrible, which I tried to downplay on my original BN post  . Grainy sauce, deluged with pepper, which permeated through everything...

I was going to try to use the word "constellated" to describe the pepper, but it didn't work out. Have a wonderful day, BN :D :D :D

Hi there! The scopes went well and I go back in 5 years.

I love mac n cheese. It was a staple as a bachelor. I often took boxes camping as a simple meal.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

I've never heard of that.
According to AI: Many backyard birds love eating the sweet, juicy pulp of oranges. The most famous orange-eaters are orioles, tanagers, and grosbeaks. You will also frequently see tanagers, catbirds, mockingbirds, bluebirds, robins, and red-bellied woodpeckers enjoying them. :D

When I left to go to the Red Cross there was a bright blue sky and the sun was shining. About 3 miles up the road, it started raining. As I kept going north, the rain got worse. I got to Hey 501, which probably has the worst traffic in Myrtle Beach, and it was raining so hard I had trouble seeing the road. When I left the Red Cross the sun was out. It's overcast again so maybe we'll get some more rain, we need it.

I had an early therapy appointment today. Still no communication with the middle daughter.😭 I did send an email after the failed face to face meeting a few weeks ago but she's still not contacting me or her dad.
I went to the bank on the way home to sign some preliminary paperwork for our construction loan application.
When I got home I watched my 3 oldest grandkids on YouTube at the international Bible Quizzing competition in Calgary.
We're having a simple dinner of Fish Tacos tonight and I plan to be in bed early!

Glad you made it home safely, Larry!

Tammy, I hope the communication blockage breaks through.

I've been having fun here... for the last 3 hours the power blips every 7 minutes. The oven and the microwave both make loud beeps, and the dogs bark at it. The electric company knows about it (same company I have at home) so hopefully they'll find the reason soon. No point in turning on the TV since it just keeps resetting. My sister called one of her neighbors/friends and it's happening at their house, too. :-? Ugh.

Solve half the beeping, Penny. Unplug the microwave. Ours is unplugged until needed. I never set the clock in the first place and read it's an energy drain.

Hi kids! Glad to hear your procedure went well, Bill. Hoping the same will be said for Ken’s.

It is Hot Hot Hot here. 98 with a feels like of 102. We are all hunkered down in the house with the fans running. The A/C is set higher than usual just so I don’t need a second mortgage to pay the bill. My house is well insulated, so it feels cool even at 80. Once the prime electric rate switches to cheaper in a few minutes, then I’ll consider maybe 76. When I was little it was all about watching time for cheap long distance calls; now I do the same for electricity 😄

Gonna go watch the All Star game in a bit. My dad and I always watched it when I was young, so it is fun to remember. One of Ron’s Cardinals won the Home Run Derby last night. He won by one home run that he hit at the every and. It was fun to watch!

Unfortunately I can't, Bill. They're built into the walls of the kitchen cabinets. But I'm happy to report it FINALLY stopped. :D

Awww, I love this. :D I don't know what channel it's on here at my sisters. I'll see if I can find it. I LOVE the All Star games.

I'm reminded of a smoke alarm beeping and I have to find it in the middle of the night.

Can't watch the MLB All-Star game from my sister's house, cause they have different streaming channels than I do. BUT, I'm so glad I didn't get to see the National Anthem. Dear Patti LaBelle, please never 'sing' it again. 🙁
