A man who really wasn't a friend.....

How much do you know about Jimmy? There's probably something you don't know.

Way back in the old Treasure Chest, Jimmy made reference in a song that "I had my hair pulled out by a man who really wasn't a friend". 3 questions. Name the song. Name the man that pulled JB's hair out. Name the city it happened.
Bonus question....what type of car was he in when he got his hair pulled out???

Not too difficult. In the song "Presents to send you" Jimmy relates the experience he had in Nashville with Buford Pusser while looking for his rented Gremlin. Jimmy was s***faced and climbed up on the hood of parked car, belonging to Pusser.

Not his friend

Jimmy tells the story of the incident in a radio concert/interview in 1974 on KSAN. I do wonder if it really was Buford Pusser. (It makes a good story and Jimmy does prefer fiction over fact). Mac Macanally also discribes the story in the song SEMI TRUE STORIES.

This incident happens after Jimmy and his band had just recorded "Gods Own Drunk". Jimmy decided that in the spirit of recording this song that the band should buy 12 bottles of tequila and chug them down, and press record. Semi True Stories has references to this:
"Too much tequila or not quite enough"
"On the same day Gods Own Drunk was recorded"

If I'm not mistaken, JB was not only standing atop Pusser's car looking for his rented Gremlin, he had on golf shoes. They were the only footwear he had besides a pair of ratty old sneakers, and he was going to an interview or meeting, and wanted to look a little more presentable. Needless to say, Pusser was p***!

Sorry, but I'm a fairly new Parrothead. Who is Buford Pusser? I mean, other than a name in a song/story. Was he a real person? Thanks for your help!

See the movie(s) "Walking Tall", although the movies make no reference to Bubba walking on his car that I remember. But, then again, they came out in the early to mid 70's.

My nephew in TN tells me they are remaking Walking Tall & the wrestler, The Rock, will be playing Buford.
Hank Hill : Just in case I'm incapacitated for some reason, do you know how to start a man's heart with a downed power line?

Bobby: No.

Hank : Well, there's really no wrong way to do it.
