I think that if you put a cap on the ad, then people would be hesitate to even post on the Exchange and that would hurt certain people willing to pay the extra $ for a ticket. I used to be against scalping but now I really don't care, there is a bigger picture of things to worry about...

I say let people ask whatever they want to for the tickets,if they want to sell the tickets fatser then they'll ask face value,if they want to take a risk of asking more for the tickets then they might not sell the tickets at all.It should be up to the person selling the tickets.

I'd rather see the TE as a place for those who might want to unload or find a few extras. I am less likely to encourage people to get tickets they don't plan on using with the intention of selling them at an unreasonable profit here.
This isn't an "I hate scalpers/brokers" vote, because I know they are the only source for some. And I also realize the TE might fade away if it is face+TM only. But in my opinion, why promote the process here?

To recap my reasons for face value + TM and shipping:
1. BN is a hangout for phriends and phamily - why make a buck off of them?
2. There are plenty of other avenues to find all of the sellers looking for profit!
3. It would be nice to have a place to look for just good honest phriends parting with extra tix at face value.
4. Eliminating the profiteers from the BN ticket exchange would make the face tix that much easier to find. You wouldn't have to wade through all of them and sort them all out.
5. Less ads wouldn't facilitate eliminating the whole exchange - no matter how few tickets make it up there, it would still be a worthy valuable tool.
The only risk is that scumbags buy them up from the BN TE at face and re-sell for profit, but in many cases phamiliar names will be the phriends in need and that won't be an issue.

The results don't suprise me at all. The only change I would make to the Ticketexchange is in order to put up an ad you have to be a registered user.
People who sell at face value now will still sell at face value even if the policy is "Any ad, no matter what the price they're asking" because after all 'real'
and 'true'
fans wouldn't sell tickets to other 'real'
and 'true'
fans for more than face value, would they? If I needed tickets I would rather pay anyone I know on this board $100-$150 per ticket rather than a broker and wouldn't complain one bit about it!

I'd have to agree that people ought to post, and those objecting to markups ought to just avoid them - I was the one who asked about what is fair for time and trouble.. honestly, I dunno, I just know what I can take when I have extas (face + TM+ shipping) and what I'm willing to pay (I went wild and made a VERY good trade for Vegas tickets a couple of years ago for some hard-to-get Atlanta lawns, which put me about $20 over face for the latter).
However, in these days in which getting tickets is so difficult (and pricy) asking that time and trouble question (and fair mark-up): just WHAT is fair mark-up when it comes to venues like GW and Camden in which everything was grabbed up so fast? If a $32 ticket is going quite commonly for $150, I'd guess that getting it for $100 is not a bad deal. I know it's crazy, but, after all, the guy isn't going to tour that much longer, and it's all about seeing the show, isn't it?
As for the questions about whether or not to have the tickets in hand before the show: NO-BRAINER! I'd think it's MUCH better having not to worry about it: much as I like the party before the show, I really do go for the show, and, being the OLD person that I am, I've long ago ramped up to only pavilion seats, since I like being able to wander around, get beverages, buy t-shirts, go to the ladies room, etc, before heading in and KNOWING I have my own special spot.
And before anyone accuses me of being cheap, I'll confess that my concert this year is Vegas, and we're sitting in the front row of Section D -- and I sold my section F tickets for face + TM, and am hoping to meet the nice parrotheads from Utah to whom I sold them through the TE -- for $200 plus expenses each. And those are TM prices... I guess you pay what you pay to see The Man.

Let’s just say that the tickets NYCPort just won for Great Woods are for Saturday night, now as many of us know he paid a small fortune for the tickets he now has for that show from a scalper/broker. So………….
According to the rules of the Ticket Exchange he COULD NOT post those tickets he bought on the exchange and ask for the money he paid for them back because he would be selling them for more face value! The question to the people who want to only allow tickets to be sold at face value; Assuming he no longer needs the tickets he previously bought and should he choose to sell them what should he do? List them on the Ticket exchange and sell them at face and take a huge loss OR resort to eBay? The point is putting a cap on how much you can sell tickets for is wrong!

Why put a cap on it? If one person wants a certain price and another is willing to pay it to get tickets, sounds like two happy people to me..... If you cap it, only 1 person is happy - the person paying less than what they felt was the max for a ticket. Isn't Jimmy's message partly about spreading happiness to others?

I don't sell tix for more than I paid, and I never paid a broker/scalper...Having said that, it doesn't mean I think no one should...
I think BOR's example up top is a good one. If someone no longer needs tix one should be able to recover whatever it is the person paid...So I guess I agree with no cap...
The ads I dislike are the "best offer" variety...pick a price! The one you paid or the one you really want to charge. Don't use the exchange for your personal auction...there are plenty of auction sites...
