On line Vs. In Line Ticket Buying

Post by RagTopDayz »

What is your experience? I always have to purchase on line with TicketMaster as I don't live in an area where Jimmy goes anymore(KC) :( . Bought CGO tickets within 3 mins after going on sale this time (10th concert). It seems that people are still getting better seats in line than I do on line. I never get shut out but also don't get a chance at good seats. This is after getting confirmation just minutes after they go on sale. Seems like the on line sales are in the back rows while the in line sales get the better seats. IMHO

I usually buy on-line and get pretty good tickets. I decided to buy Vegas tix at a ticketmaster and stand in line. I was the first in line and did not get that good seats (on side of stage at MGM U19). I'm not really complaining since at other places people are shut out. But in future I will stick with just buying on my little computer.

RTD,
I seem to have just about the exact same ticket buying story as you. I wish I could come up with some closer seats, but I am just glad that I am usually able to get seats most of the times. As for the in line tickets being better than those online, I don't think that is the case. My wife got through for tickets in Denver online after about ten minutes, and was able to get better seats than the person who was first in line at the ticketmaster location I was in line at. I think it is just one of those rolls of the dice either way you go. I think each way could be better than the other just depending on how the ticket gods are working.

I usually buy online. My tickets came up at 10:02 and lawn was best available. I had some trouble, but nothing that prevented me from getting the tickets. In 1991 I waited in line for 5 hours for Yes tickets and a few minutes before they went on sale, the stores electricity went out. This was another show that sold out quickly. After doing what they could, they finally gave up and called for tickets. This was a good 20 minutes after tickets went on sale and I got 9th row. People in front of me got as close as row 3. I have no doubt, ticketmaster sits on a ton of good tickets as a just in case. Ever since then, I check TM everyday for 10 days before a show, just to see what they release.
