Hey FINSUP, It's getting closer to Vegas BABY! We are getting in Thursday nite and stayimg at the MGM. We will be over to the Key Largo for the pool party on Friday. I just ordered my concert supplies. About fifteen dozen mardi gras beads and 100 7" beach balls. Oh and the grass skirts. I rebuilt the roof on my TIKI BAR on Saturday and ended up having a margarita party from one in the afternoon till one in the mouring. Yesterday was a recovery day. We have to start training for Vegas.

As if we needed another reason to avoid Tommy Rockers, now they are charging $25.00 last year it was $10.00 and that was too much. You also can go to Tommy Rockers and not pay a thing, the $25.00 allows you access to the back parking lot where the ‘Parrothead party’ is then you have to wait in line for 1/2 hour or more for your cheeseburger then inline again for your free drink. Also in order to get to the back lot for the ‘party’ you have to wait inline even though you already paid. Not to mention T-Rockers is well off the strip, last year it was a $15.00 cab ride from the Flamingo. My advice is if you are going to go to Tommy Rockers don’t pay in advance you will be able to get into the building for free then you can see out back, if you like what you see then pay the $25.00 or if it like it was last year just wait to about 11PM, after that anyone was allowed out back weather they paid or not. If you do pay the $25.00 get there early as they ran out of the souvenir lanyard’s and badge’s by 8ish. Although I do have to say I did get one the souvenir lanyard and badge and it is pretty cool but not worth wasting $25.00.
Yes, I am still bitter about last year’s disaster at Tommy Rockers.

In response to the previous post, the LVPHC acknowledges there were problems with last years event.....but I think calling it a "disaster" is a bit extreme. Not many tickets were bought in advance and twice as many people showed up as any previous "pre-concert" party causing some problems with lines, badges, etc. We have worked hard (along with Tommy Rocker) to alleviate that this year with more volunteers at the door, more drink stations, more tables, more porta johns, etc. etc. In response to the increase in price, our talent lineup is a lot bigger this year (including a couple of great "special guests" you don't want to miss!), we have added a t-shirt to all participants, have better lanyards, and spent a lot more money in general to give all those coming to Vegas a much funner experience! (I know thats bad grammar.....but so what???) As for Tommy's being a long way from the strip.....this is not the case at all. And you don't have to take my word for it.....according to mapblast.com, the trip from the Flamingo to Tommy Rockers is a 3 minute trip covering 1.41 miles. Granted, it may take a little longer than that with traffic, but should be a very short cab ride unless you get a "crooked" driver. Finally, please remember that all money raised at Last Man Standing goes to charity (this year, it's the Alzheimers Association)........the inside of the club is open to the public and there is no cover. However, we hope that you'll join the real party outside and support the efforts of numerous volunteers who have worked many hours to put on a great party and raise a lot of money for the Alzheimers Association.

BottleofRum,
I am sorry you were un-happy with last year's event. Yes, we had some problems last year. But we also learned from them and they have been corrected this year. Yes, the price did go up this year, but we have also expanded the entertainment with Sunny Jim & Uncle Monkey(not to mention the very special guest). Please also remember that this is Charity Fundraising Event.
Again, I apologize if last year didn't meet your expectations. Feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do to help get rid of the bitter taste. Our goal is for everyone to have a great time and to be able to support our charity. I really do feel that anyone who attends this years event will be happy they did.
PS The Badges and Lanyards are even cooler this year!!!!

I sat on it all weekend and promised myself I would avoid it but Come Monday I just couldn't resist.NYCPORT wrote:I knew it was only a matter of time before BOR got to this post.
I would have to agree with him. There are a lot of better choices for Friday night.
I know who the special guest is and it would be great to see them but the out door area where the party is wasn’t very big and it got very crowded last year to the point you couldn’t move, if the same or more show up this year it will be worse. Plus if they are added more drink and food stations outside that means less room to mingle meaning it will be more crowded. Having more people at the door wouldn’t have helped last year as there were just to many people outside so the line wasn’t moving. Disaster was the wrong word for me to use because it wasn’t that bad it was just very unorganized I had more fun inside Tommy Rockers than I did outside at the Buffett party. One of the many things that sticks out was we were told to buy tickets in advance to avoid the lines, so we did and we still have to wait in several lines. We are in Vegas for a small amount of time and to me there is just other things to do that Friday night. If the Tommy Rockers is more organized than last year then I am sure it will be fun but if the same amount or more people show up you are going to have your hand full again. Either way the money is going to a good cause so good luck.!

Too bad for BOR and NYC Port. I had a fantastic time at Tommy Rockers last year and I don't remember waiting in any line other than the food line and the burger wasn't anything special but the music, atmosphere and dancing were awesome!! We danced for hours and hours without being too constricted. Maybe that is why I don't remember it being too crowded because I was dancing and quite drunk. There is a lot to do in Vegas I hope everyone enjoys themselves and finds the perfect event to help them enjoy their weekend. I have the luxury of living only a few hours from Vegas and have seen most of the Hotels etc... so I spend most of the time drinking and dancing. Have fun all!!!

Thank you for the support spenpro and tnsna.....I think most people were able to have to have a great time last year despite some of the problems that were faced. After all, we are all parrotheads and know how to have fun!
We look forward to seeing you back again this year and am confident you will have an even better time than in 2002!

I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A friend of mine is going to be playing at Tommy Rockers on Friday night. His name is Erik Peitsch and he sings Buffett songs as well as his own stuff. His music is very upbeat island music with great lyrics and a fantastic Buffett sound.
