I was at both the thursday show at Oakland and the Sat show at San Jose. Both shows were most excellent. Club Trini played in the lobby of both venues and as usual brought the crowd to cheers.
It is so nice to be able to get that close to the band in an inpromptu setting. The bass player, Jim Mayer was so gracious and nice. He stopped and talked to us for about 15 minutes and was the coolest guy in world. We went to talk to him sat night and he even remembered my name from two nights before. How cool is that.
The cops in the parking lot at the San Jose Arena were the reincarnation of the Nazi SS. They're conduct was deplorable. I hope that Jimmy never play's there again. Oakland cops just let everbody party and were very cool.
San Jose, You •••• and don't deserve Us Parrotheads ever again!! Jimmy, Are You Listening?

The SJ venue isn't good. Nazi cops everywhere. Great concert. Jimmy was in great form and it was a great crowd. The SJ shark that flys around the arena as a remote control small blimp was the perfect prop for the concert. But that was the only good unique thing at SJ. I really hate the venue. Massive frisking of everyone going in. Cops everywhere in and out. Huge lines to get frisked. Likely the worst thing that happened was that somebody puked.
Jimmy if you are reading, please check out the Concord Pavilion, you played there years ago and it is really a nice venue. Perhaps a bit smaller than some, but the crowds out there are great.

A couple more things. Pirate was the best at this concert ever. Great closer we were talking about how nice it was all the way home. Jimmy - put this one from SJ on your next live cd.
Nice reference to San Luis Obispo, my old home town. Even pronounced it correctly, I'm impressed.
The sound in San Jose Arena isn't good. Too much echo and not enough volume. It wasn't just this concert. Always bad sound here. You can't even understand the announcer at the Sharks games. Too many hard surfaces and steel roof make this place a massive echo chamber. Jimmy - please don't do SJ again. We would rather have rain and be outside at the Concord Pavilion.

Hey Parrotheads!
The San Jose show was my first Buffett show...I took my mom for her 56th birthday, and I must say it was by far one of the funnest concerts I have ever been to (and I have been to ALOT!)!!
The best part for me: the people! I have been going to Phish shows for years and this was one of the few crowds I have seen that has the same SPIRIT and ENERGY the Phish Phans have(if you have been you know what I mean). I loved every second of it
Thanks to everyone who was there, especially the generous and fun people in front of me!!

Fellow Parrotheads, I just wanted to fix the set list. I was in San Jose Saturday night and Margaritaville was the last regular song. The encore's were: 24 Tequila, 25 Boat Drinks (The highlight of the night for me), 26 Uncle John's Band, 27 Another Saturday Night, and just Jimmy and Amy Lee on 28 A Pirate Looks At Forty. You guys are right, "Pirate" was awesome. He did it (Pirate) the same way in Oakland Thursday. Oakland was also a much better venue. Everything was cool, the parking lot, security, the ushers, perfect Parrothead atmosphere. First time we've been able to tailgate in No. Cal in a long time. Have fun this summer all you lucky parrots.

I was in San Jose Saturday night. Drove up with my wife from L.A. Beautiful weather for a drive up the California coast. A true ragtop day.
One before-the-show downer: the San Jose Hilton bar ran out of alcohol BEFORE the show and shut down. No drinks after the show.
I bought floor tickets on eBay and found out that they were in a section full of corporate types. There we were - dancing, singing, with our fins up and the people around us were totally clueless and without emotion. Kind of a bummer.
Jimmy and the band were great. Would have been nice if Mac was there.
Can't wait for the Memorial Day afternoon show so that we can bring the 'keets! Finzup, y'all! See ya next time.

I know what you mean. We had our own party going on up on top of the hilton. Up on 17 and 18 there was a massive party in the hallways really a good time cheese burgers, drinks, grass skirts, coconut bras and lots of Mville Tequila. Good times. The hotel was like a bad dream. The bar was closed when we got back from the concert and no food. Got the munchies and needed food but had to wait for eggs in the morning. Oh well, great concert. SJ Hilton ... well not as good as a holiday inn in Marin.
