When mixing a Dark 'n Stormy be sure not to use ginger beer labeled "Jamaican-style" that seem so common in my area supermarkets. Way too much ginger "bite" that overpowers the drink.......capnbobby wrote:Gosling's Black Seal Rum

If you can find it where you live, the original, Barritt's Bermuda Stone Ginger Beer is best: http://www.barrittsgingerbeer.bm/
I've also used ginger beer made by Saranac Brewing in NY that has a nice taste as well: http://www.saranac.com/page/ginger-beer
And, just my preference, I always squeeze the juice of half a lime into my drink, too.
I heard about Gosling's ginger beer on a recent trip to Bermuda........haven't seen it distributed here yet, but I'll keep looking!SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Barritt's is best IMHO but Goslings also now makes ginger beer and they carry diet ginger beer as well. The Hannafords in our area carry the Goslings Ginger Beer and that is our preference. However, when we run Hannafords out of that we normally use Reeds or Saranac. If you have a Hannafords in your area, you should be able to talk them into carrying it, as it is in their system.Bfan53again wrote:I heard about Gosling's ginger beer on a recent trip to Bermuda........haven't seen it distributed here yet, but I'll keep looking!SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Barritt's is best IMHO but Goslings also now makes ginger beer and they carry diet ginger beer as well. I agee....sometimes will go half Reeds and half ginger ale so it doesn't overpower the rum.....but prefer to get Goslings when we can.Bfan53again wrote:Thanks, Chris......it is Reeds that I usually find a bit too much for my D 'n S drink
I'll definitely try Goslings when I can get it.......hopefully we'll see you again at Manassas this Labor Day weekend?C-Dawg wrote:I agee....sometimes will go half Reeds and half ginger ale so it doesn't overpower the rum.....but prefer to get Goslings when we can.Bfan53again wrote:Thanks, Chris......it is Reeds that I usually find a bit too much for my D 'n S drink

No, never did MOTM yet, but it's on the list......especially now that we have friends who retired to Ramrod Key, joined the local PH club, and are helping out. Hopefully next year!C-Dawg wrote:not gonna make it down this year.....heading to the Keys for MoTM instead.....you going to be there?Bfan53again wrote:I'll definitely try Goslings when I can get it.......hopefully we'll see you again at Manassas this Labor Day weekend?C-Dawg wrote:I agee....sometimes will go half Reeds and half ginger ale so it doesn't overpower the rum.....but prefer to get Goslings when we can.Bfan53again wrote:Thanks, Chris......it is Reeds that I usually find a bit too much for my D 'n S drink

Nice.....thanks for the link!srkmrd wrote:We were in Roatan Honduras a couple of weeks ago at an all inclusive. A friend wanted some premium liquor so he sent one of the locals to get a stash for us...... and he came back with a nice varity including a bottle of Ron Zacapa Rum, I do not even remember if it was the 15 or the 23 year old, I actually think it was the 23. On a normal basis I do not drink any liquor just on the rocks but this stuff is that smooth. Or maybe it was just vacation but I think I have a new favorite rum![]()
