I'm surprised there isn't much love for the title track. Equal Strain is definitely my favorite. Simple but beautiful, with an almost haunting sound (a little like Serpentine). With a phrase like that from his childhood, I'm surprise it wasn't the subject of a song earlier in his career!

I agree, the weekend JB passed RM re-aired their initial broadcast with Jimmy as the DJ... and in his banter between songs, he mentioned this term for a nap and explained it was from his Grandfather... so it was in his mind even back then!mhbennett1090 wrote: November 6, 2023 11:26 am I'm surprised there isn't much love for the title track. I actually woke up with Equal Strains in my head this morning, oddly enough. It's not bad at all.
But it's like a lot of things. Things that jump out initially aren't always the ones you end up loving in the end.

I’ve listened to this album quite a few times the past two days. I’m pleased with it and think it might be the best JB has done in a long time It’s not perfect, there are a couple of tunes I skip but overall I’d say everyone involved brought their “A” game
Bubbles Up is beautiful but still too hard for me to listen to right now, maybe with time. Conversely, Ti Punch Cafe brings a smile with great memories of JB’s style. Reminds me of OPH. It’s happy, foot tapping and would have been a great concert addition
Overall, very good album it’s just sad to think there will be no more .

Re: Equal Strain on All Parts Released
I finally got a chance to listen to the whole album all the way through a couple of times and "Audience of One" is my favorite (today, anyway).
I was thinking how good it would be in concert and then got teary, realizing that it was never gonna happen.

It feels weird being the same age as old people….
