I went to several of those with my kids back in the day when they lived at home. They were a lot of fun!
I was hoping someone in our neighborhood was going so I could tag along (since my husband can't) but no one was,and I did not want to go it alone. I'm sure it was a blast!

We have gas tankless water heaters. The “guts” are in the outside garage wall which is customary here. Although we covered the pipes with pipe insulation it was too cold with the wind chill. Plus ours in on the east side of the house with a 2 story next to us. It’s a wind tunnel that doesn’t get full sun until abt 2 pm. This is the first time folks have had problems.Caribbean Soul wrote: February 1, 2026 6:42 pmA friend of mine in Northern SC got just over 7' of snow! She is originally from CT, so she decided to "relive her youth" (her words) by making some snow angels. If I tried that, I probably would not be able to get up!Saltx3 wrote: February 1, 2026 8:05 am Good Morning !
Looks like we got about 4" of snow -- the wind is blowing strongly and we have no hot water - along with most of the other 300 single family homeowners. The townhomes have electric so they are good to go.
But it sure does look pretty.

BUMMER on the lack of hot water! What caused that and why does having electric in the townhouses make a difference?
Oh... gottcha! I never considered it could be outside the main house!Saltx3 wrote: February 2, 2026 6:58 pmWe have gas tankless water heaters. In all the homes Jim & I have lived in (10 in total), they have always been in the basement.
Just to be a PITA because I had him cremated and they didn't want me to. They don't care that every month that passes, we still have to pay insurance and utilities out of the estate.
