We had black lab puppy adopt us at our camp on Christmas ( she was abandoned) and named her Desdemona. She usually just gets called Desi. And if we yelled Gumbo in our house all the neighbors would come over and ask what time.

I still like Lola best. But if you & your boyfriend both like Maggie, here's a Buffett rationale:
Maggie is a nickname for Margaret. Could it not also be a nickname for Margaritaville?

I have an awesome 2 year old yellow lab named Buffett. His full name is Buffett Marley de Cuervo. Then there is his papered name which is Riverwatch Hemisphere Dancer. I would defin. go with Tiki on your pup...Then when it goes pee-pee on your rug you can call it the leeky-tiki...

Also, we are trying out in Reno for the great outdoor games this year. How cool would it be to have a dog named Buffett doing the dock jump, as opposed to Duke or Rex????? And I will wear a hawaiian shirt if we make it...

that's ok I doubt if the dog would know the difference. plus all of the other dogs would be envious of her name. they'll all wish they were named jimmy buffett too.

OMG, Fins, that was my fishie's name! Well, kind of. When I got my fish I thought it was female and named her Desdamona. When I found out that her was a him, I shortened it to Des. He was a betta fish. I got him last September and he died in January.

If someone had told me previously that you could get so attached to a fish, I would have thought they were crazy. But my Des was like a little puppy dog, welcoming me when I came home, jumping into my hand when I put it in the water. And he did tricks. If you think I really am crazy, go to
http://www.bettatalk.com/ It's characteristic for betta fish. People who first said dolphins could communicate probably were thought to be nuts!

thats funny Ceol, great minds think alike.
my desdamona was a 11inch oscar, we fed her live gold fish, then i think someone spilled kahlua in the tank or something and she passed away suddenly.

we used to have a goldfish that we fed a shot of beer a week for 5 years. the fish loved it. he would get all excited when he saw me getting the beer ready. he grew up really big.
