The only time I went to New Orleans, I had red beans and rice every day. Not with every meal, but every day.springparrot wrote:We are having red beans and rice in honor of Fat Tuesday. There will be plenty if you want to head this wayLIPH wrote:I decided not to go to either of the Mardi Gras celebrations. They both involve being outdoors, it's cold, windy, damp and just nasty out. I didn't stop at Hooters either, which means I have to forage for food now because I was out all afternoon and I haven't eaten since breakfast.

Sure....they might be a little cold by the time they get there, but pass them over a candle and they will be fine.alphabits wrote:We're having pork. Which came from a pig. Which was undoubtedly fat. The red beans and rice sounds like a nice complement to the pork. Can ya email me some?

Yes, it is an easy dish to make. Put the beans on the stove and leave them all day. They don't have much 'watching'...just don't let them boil dry and burn.LIPH wrote:The only time I went to New Orleans, I had red beans and rice every day. Well, I had to settle for Plan B --- boiled potatoes and a southwest vegetable medley (corn, black bean, green & red peppers).springparrot wrote:Sure....they might be a little cold by the time they get there, but pass them over a candle and they will be fine.alphabits wrote:We're having pork. Maybe I'll make chili Thursday. According to the weather guesser on the 6:00 news there's a blast of arctic air headed for the Carolinas and it's going to be below freezing from tomorrow night to sometime Saturday. Chili is a good cold weather meal.
