OK PH's here's my take on the show Saturday night.

This was probably the best show I have seen Jimmy do in the last couple of years. He was ON last night! When the full moon rose over the trees behind Lakewood it was like he really just wanted to PARTY. He chatted with the crowd more this year and had the energy of a man of much younger years. The set list was terrific and "who's The Blonde Stranger" was sure good to hear live. This show just had so much ENERGY. Mac didn't play with the band all night. He just came out and did his own song and hung around toward the end. And I have to say "A Pirate Looks at 40" was a GREAT way to end the night. On a scale of 1 - 10, this year's show was off the charts. Well done Jimmy!

All you Clint Black bashers - I have to say Clint did one HELL of a job and looked as though he was having the time of his life! He fit right in. Cowboy hat and everything. His song "Been There" fit right into the temp of the show and he and Jimmy's voices sound good together. "Been There" is not your "typical" country song, so just enjoy the music!

We were front-row lawn and mostly surrounded by "older Phans" this year which was quite a treat. (No puking!!!) Gotta say the party in the back parking lot was going hot and heavy, but most pholks seemed well-behaved and orderly. (OK, later in the evening some didn't know WHAT concert they were at!)

Man - what a night!

well folks- after thursdays show i posted a message hoping for a "no fight" show- saturdays show was very good- set list of course was predictable (missing that Pencil thin mustache though) anyway- the wish for no fights of course was in vain

folks- i drink from time to time- and at buffet shows i drink alot
but if something goes down - I walk away- I plead for peace- I try to have fun and not spoil it for others evenif i have to "sacrifice" my "manliness"- even though I can keep my own in a fight- but i chose not to. I walk away- there was so much bad blood- unnecessary BS fights yesterday as there was last year- chill out folks please
If you like to fight-stay away from BUffet shows and enter the toughman contests- please.

hoping for a peaceful world (and an unpredictable buffet set list) your fellow phriend- Scott

SCOTT;
WELL SAID. WHY DON'T THOSE IDIOTS JOIN THE WWF, OR BETTER YET GO TO IRAQ/IRAN AND FIGHT THOSE CLOWNS. LEAVE TEH JIMMY BUFFETT CONCERT GOERS ALONE. THIS ISN'T A RAP OR HEAVY METAL CONCERT, DAMM IT, IT'S JIMMY. HAVE FUN BUT BEHAVE! FOR GODS' SAKE, GROW UP. YOU MAY NOT BELIEVE IT, BUT JIMMY ACTUALLY DOES HAVE PEOPLE GO TO HIS CONCERTS WHO REALLY DO GO TO ENJOY THE CONCERT. AS SCOTT SAYS, STAY AWAY AND LEAVE US ALONE. YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND A GOOD BIKER BAR WITH A FEW WILLING PARTICIPANTS TO GIVE YOU CHILDREN YOUR MUCH NEEDED ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT. WHAT IS AMAZING IS THAT, ALTHOUGH I'M NOT A BIKER, I'VE BEEN IN MANY BIKER BARS, AND WHENEVER THOSE GUYS WIND UP IN A FIGHT, I NOTICE THAT THEY NEVER SEEM TO START IT, BUT ARE ALMOST ALWAYS PROVOKED INTO IT BY AMATUERS WHO HAVE NO BUSINESS IN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. PERHAPS WE CAN GET THEM TO PATROL THE PARKING LOTS DURING BUFFETT CONCERTS IF WE OFFER THEM CASES OF BEER AND A FEW BUCKS, AND THEY COULD ISSUE ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENTS TO THESE LOSERS AS NEEDED. THANKS ALL FOR LETTING ME VENT. I SHOULD BUY ALL OF YOU A CASE OF BEER.

I am in my early twenties however I have been to 16 shows. Last night's performance was magical. Jimmy was juiced, Clint was having a ball, and Mac looked happy to be back (even though it was just for 3 numbers).

As far as the parking lot situation and the lawn situation in Atlanta over the past two years I am quite displeased. If you want to go hang out and drink in a parking lot all day and run your mouth while in the concert then Poison is on the 18th at Lakewood and if you are lucky Hank Williams JR. might play sometime soon.

I heard some younger remark Thursday night during the acoustic set that he was board. I on the other hand, found great pleasure in hearing That's What Living is to Me, Tryin to Reason, Chanson Pour Les Petits Enfants and Island. This shows that he was just there to be there - NOT FOR THE MUSIC! A girl asked me on Thursday night to buy her a drink. I asked her how old she was and she replied 17. I told her no because I was enjoying the music that I paid $90 from a broker to get into. I asked her why she came and her response was "to get drunk". I was disgusted. I am of the younger Buffett generation - but my motives were different than that of the boys from Athens and Auburn. "It's the magic of the music that still draws a crowd" are Jimmy's very own words. If the music is not magical and special to you then do not buy a ticket because that is one less parrothead that may not be able to get in!!!!!

Thank you Jimmy, Reefers, Clint and Mac for a wonderful and truly magical evening under the full moon at Lakewood!!

Just returned to Jacksonville FL from Hotlanta. The show rocked, the parking lot got rocked. Phins way up to the Atlanta PHC for doing the community service for parking lot cleanup, some people were trying to make things awfully hard on them. Thanks to the Augusta GA club for allowing my good friends Brian Turner and Danny Dunaway to jam on thier equipment. Those of us lucky to see it got to hear Migration and a couple of other songs not currently being played on the tour. The setlist Jimmy played was great, I personally would like to hear Jimmy sing his songs without Clint Blacks help but you can't have everything. All in all a great time was had by all. Sad to see the percentage of fans vs. parking lot morons changing for the worse with each passing day. Thanks much.

Another hot (but not so humid) Saturday in Atlanta at Lakewood With Jimmy. As always, there are too many experiences, not all of which are very clear, to tell that I'll leave that to others, but it was a sensational day. We got there at 9:30am and discovered the gates already open and the lot filling fast. Being members of the Atlanta club, we wanted to park near their setup, but had to settle for a short walk. And this was early morning! The walkabouts in the lot this year were as entertaining as ever; it's amazing to watch how a town of 20,000 people can arise in a matter of hours, complete with vendors, food and social services, numerous bars (some quite elaborate) who welcomed anyone and everyone, MANY swimming pools, costumery of limitless originality, no politicians, and great good humor (for the most part). For a dry-as-bones parking lot, within an hour the place had at least a dozen beaches. Trying to explain all this to "normal" people is like trying to explain quantum physics to a kindergarten class. It sorta goes over their heads. One memorable moment in the lot was Sunny Jim trying out a motorized bar stool. What a great invention! When it's time to move on to the next bar, you don't even have to stand up and walk, you just put it in gear and away you go. And you always have a reserved seat!

And speaking of Sunny Jim, as last year, he entertained us with his superb songs, great steel drum and guitar playing, and a voice the other Jim wishes he had. Here's hoping James can hook up more often with St. Somewhere and A1A! What a level of musicianship he brings.

The show tonight varied little from Thursday night, except that Clint Black joined the band, wearing as close to a parrothead costume as he's likely to get. I gotta say, that was not your typical Clint Black outfit! It was a very pleasant surprise that he really seemed to fit in well. Clearly, the guy was having as much fun as Jimmy. Jimmy joked and chatted as he always does, but it good to hear him mention the Bistro on Peachtree Street where he played to very small audiences so many years ago. And that remark about Alabama, while true, will surely land him in hot water.

The setlist is posted everywhere by now, so I won't repeat it, but the things that stuck in my mind: a gorgeous full moon behind the lawn, Great Heart making a wonderful first song, Off to See the Lizard (much underrated, IMO), hearing Chansons pour la Petits Enfant in a concert, Southern Cross (of course), an always rockin' version of One Particular Harbor, the Mission Impossible lead-in with the local scenes, Clint Black sounding way better than I expected and looking the parrot head part wonderfully, Mac reappearing, Brown Eyed Girl and Another Saturday Night back to back, and that great rendition of A Pirate Looks at Forty, with Clint playing the guitar and harmonica!!!

Well, that's it. Like I said, there are just way to many experiences to tell them all; I'm still basking in that warm feeling you get when you know you've been entertained by the best. One final memory: seeing 40 or so amazingly chipper members of the Atlanta Parrot Head Club out cleaning up the parking lot this morning. Now, that's dedication!

Cook, MOM, Scott:

Unfortunately you're probably only singing to the choir re: the problems at the shows. Those that cause the problems will never read your thoughts because they are not on a Buffett site - they are not true parrotheads. But you guys already know this and I imagine at the very least it can make you feel better to vent and know that we ALL agree!

You are exactly right. I just needed a chance to vent. They have probably never even heard of this site! See ya in Cincinnati!

Great song-mix, great phans, great weather and Jimmy's energy level was way up.True parrotheads get to the lot early, party up front and avoid the ruckus in the back of the lot. Special fins-up to Wayne and the Atl. PHC for getting SUNNY JIM to play to a great crowd in the afternoon.

Gotta vent too!! I,m really glad that the under 25 crowd is into JB's music, but, too many of them think its all about funneling beer, getting into fights and making a disaster of the parking lot. Thursday I watched a group of 18-20 year olds throw their trash on top of the garbage bags handed to them. A 17 year old wanted me to buy her beer in the show also.

And Saturday, someone in that Cobb County Toyota SUV (all under 21) owns that man from Florida an appology for hitting him with the bottle. (The guy refused treatment but should have had stiches.)

On the up side, the rest of the crowd was friendly, and having a great time.

And for those of you holding tickets for the rest of the tour, get ready for a great show, Thrusday was outstanding, but he topped it Saturday! ~~~^~~~

2fla:

you are absolutely right- I indeed needed to vent-
but about the show-
I was surprised how tight the band was w/Clint.
I enjoyed the show (dispite numerous conversations
going on around me UGH)was hoping for the No Women No Cry 2nd encore as Pirate was played the night before but realize pirate would probably be the choice as he has played it at every show for the last 9 or so
I still miss the old Pencil thin- I was hoping CLint practiced the mouth harp but I guess Fingers
parts on that song are a little to technical for CLint (no slam on Clint here folks for those of you who may be fans of his)
anyway- if he comes back next year expect the crowd situation to be the same- set your expectations and you may have a better time :-)
Peace

How about a concert for over 30 years old ONLY!?
We attended both shows, and the Thursday juvenile drinkers really spoiled the parking lot tailgate for us. There were LOTS of kids, arriving in huge busses, with coolers full of beer, no tickets, just on the loose to get drunk and be obnoxious...no pacing themselves for the long, hot afternoon/evening. They trashed the lot, broke beer bottles, etc...

Saturday's crowd was 'rockin, and into the music! We were sufficiently "BUFFETTIZED", and I can truly say it is the best Buffett concert I've been to in twenty-five or so years! What energy and electricity!

Thanks Jimmy for another PHantastic year!

HOLD ON HOLD ON, Im 18 years old and my friends who are going with me are 17 and 18. Lets not categorize all of the younger concert goers. "Our" age group are not the biggest buffett fans, in fact I get made fun of, because I am a parrothead. When Buffett comes Indy, its the only time of the year, where I dont have to put up with the Boy Band •••• and hip hop. And I can flock with other fans. AND I CAN BEAT ANYBODY IN BUFFETT TRIVIA

ANONYMOUS ABOVE:
OF COURSE THERE ARE PROBABLY MANY MORE GOOD PEOPLE IN YOUR AGE GROUP THAN BAD (THERE WAS IN CHICAGO LAST YEAR, ANYWAY). NO I DIDN'T GET TO ATLANTA THIS YEAR (I'LL DO ALPINE & CINCINNATI), BUT AS YOU KNOW, IT DOES NOT TAKE MANY, NO MATTER HOW OLD, TO SPOIL THE FUN OF OTHERS. YOU JUST KEEP GOING TO THE CONCERTS AND ENJOYING THEM AS THEY ARE MEANT TO BE, NOBODY ELSE CAN MAKE YOU LOOK BAD, THEY CAN ONLY MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK BAD.
YOU SOUND LIKE THE TYPE OF PERSON THAT EXEMPLIFIES WHAT BEING A PARROTHEAD IS ALL ABOUT. FINS UP TO YOU.

Bart -

I forgot to post one thing about the concert Saturday. The people at the gate were asking some people to "pull up their shirts", not me, but they did ask my husband. I just told him they wanted to see his big tummy!!!!! But that was the first time THAT happened. But no other problems. I'm sorry to hear about your trouble.

Also - Anon above - you keep going to concerts and have a good time. We also met a couple of young Phans who were great and then a group of about 5 who not only were blasted out of their minds, only knew one JB song, but were truly obnoxious. Go figure! Phins up my young Phan!

And I'm REALLY glad I didn't see any of the bad stuff in the parking lot. THAT would have ruined the night.
