So last week, we sold our house of 22 years. The day after the closing, my my wife and our two daughters got on a plane to move to California. Our older daughter is already in college out there and our younger daughter starts college this week. I am staying behind for two months to tidy things up with work and will then head-out to join my wife.
To say that my life has turned inside out and upside down would be an understatement. Toughest few days of my life.
I made a new playlist that I called "Distantly in Love" and filled it with songs that I am sure JB wrote during his separation with Jane or songs he covered that seem to fit my current depressed mood. They are songs that I know the words to, but never truly appreciated until now.
This guy really poured out his heart. He was open and honest the struggles he had in life, and while I always knew that, to be able to relate to more of the songs now, it just makes it even more clear. He was a truly amazing songwriter.

Re: New Found Appreciation
Two months will be over soon, my friend! Keep those |\ high.
You can definitely hear Jimmy’s anguish, despair and desperation on Riddles in the Sand, Last Mango, and on OPH. I think those are some of his best works. “Come to the Moon” really tells it all. Those three albums have also gotten me though rough patches.
Then Flordays, Hot Water and Off To See The Lizard (Feeding Frenzy) tell the happy ending.

Don't try to describe the ocean if you've never seen it.

Some years ago, someone helped my digitize all my Buffett music. They listened as they went. They were new to Buffett music. When they got to Riddles, they asked me, "what happened to Jimmy here?" Because yeah. It's... a lot.
