Important Server Update: FTP Site & box.com

What's Happening:

Within the next couple days, I will be taking the FTP server offline. This will affect FTP transfers as well as the Right Click > Save File function available in the concert trading forum. The web hosting company has changed several of its legacy shared plans, which directly affects the FTP site at cuebas.net.

ALSO, I have some Buffett videos hosted on box.com, which is a cloud based platform. I am planning on taking the box.com site down as well. This content is already on the Jokelben servers.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Why are you taking the FTP site down? The "unlimited" shared hosting plan is no longer unlimited and the hosting company wants to move my account to a more expensive Virtual Private Server (VPS) plan that allows for the hard drive space I am currently using. This move is too cost prohibitive to continue to maintain the FTP site.
  • Was this a copyright or DMCA takedown? No, not at all. It simply refers to the amount of hard drive space the content is using. The hosting plan I am on now allows only 10GB of space. I currently have 166GB of content on the site. The next highest shared plans offer 20GB or 50GB of space.
  • Is this a permanent takedown? I don't want to say it is permanent, but I believe it will be a long term takedown until I can find another hosting plan or company with better terms.
  • What about hosting an FTP site with fewer shows that stays within the storage limits? I am considering that possibility of having the most recent JB shows and/or CRB and Mac shows. For now, that is a low priority plan.
  • What will happen with the download links in the concert trading forum? The links will no longer work as expected and may redirect you to a "404 not found" page. I will probably customize that to send users to the Jokelben site. The box.com links will have their own "not found" or "missing file" page.
  • Does this affect the Jokelben servers? No, the Jokelben servers are separate from the FTP site and are not affected by the change. The Jokelben servers have a set storage space and bandwidth limits that still apply (and may still get maxed out from time to time).
  • What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? I believe we covered this back in 2011! ;-)
  • Will any content be lost? None of the audio content will be lost as it is already mirrored on the Jokelben servers. Many pictures will be removed so there may be some concert setlist threads that had pictures in them that will result in dead links or missing images. A full backup of the FTP site will be verified before taking down content.
  • Will other shows like Grateful Dead, Kenny Chesney, or other non-Buffett shows be lost? Not at all. These shows will be backed up before the shutdown. They will most likely be added to Jokelben in a "related artists" folder.
  • Will the FTP logon still work? No, the FTP logon will be disabled.
  • What shows were on the box.com site? There were three concert videos from Houston, Austin, and Frisco during the 2014 tour. These are already on the Jokelben servers.
  • I have more questions about this that were not addressed above. No problem. Just post it in the thread below.
I apologize for the inconvenience the FTP shutdown may cause. The good thing is the Jokelben servers on pcloud are available for all the content that was on the FTP, plus so much more.

First of all a BIG THANK YOU is in order for having provided us with music access for all these many, many, years! YOU ROCK!!

I just wanted to confirm that the bookmark I have saved for the Jokelben Server(s) (https://jokelben.com/) will still be valid...

I am not all that "tech-y" so in the past I always used the "right-click-save" option for any songs I wanted to download right from the posts here in Concert Trading... it sounds to me like that is the feature that is going away, but that everything is still available on Jokelben... is that correct?

Yes, the jokelben access at that link is still valid. [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

Correct for both items. The Right Click > Save File feature will not be available through the links in this forum. However, you can use the Right Click download function on the Jokelben server on each individual file. You can also right click on a folder to download the entire show as a zip file.

And yes, everything is currently available on Jokelben, with the exception of some "related artist" shows, which will be migrated soon.

Thanks for the clarification. I joined the Jokelben server some time ago, but have never used it, as I didn't understand what to do. I can figure it out, though, and to echo the sentiment above - THANK YOU!
