Good bye Buffettnews FROM Phinn

by Phinn
My first time to Buffettnews.com….gosh…1999 or 2000 I think. It’s been a long time and the site was awesome for a long long time. I still check for news almost daily. I realize what I am looking for will never be posted. I wish the Reefers the best and all of you. And thank you all for sharing so many memories over the years….so many shows. But I have come to my personal conclusion that without Jimmy, well, he can’t be replaced. I love Mac and Peter and the rest of the band. I hope they are happy and stay happy.

I’m not even sure why I want to share this, vs just going away. No one would even notice.

I guess it is just that this website has been the website for me for so long. But at this point I feel like Jesse Pinkman calling the voicemail so I can hear Jane’s voice one more time. It’s time for me to disconnect and get off this f**** phone.

Fins up, and most of all and more than ever…bubbles up.

Sorry to see you go. There are only a few of us that post daily. Yes, it's not like "old times" but I still love checking in.

The title of this thread made me say "no, no, no, no, no, no, no" (I think it was seven times, you know that quick repetition one does). I thought the site was going away, and that made me sad. I mean, yes, it's not very active here any more (and hasn't been in a long time due to other places taking over message boards/forums - for the worse, in my opinion), but BN is how I truly got involved in this crazy show. Sure, I'd been going to concerts for a few years, and lurking here, but when someone needed a setlist from a show I'd gone to that wasn't on RM, I joined and did the best I could to remember. (Texas Stadium show, I believe.) Anyway, I know this site will go away eventually into the last of wind and ghosts, but that'll be a sad day, and I'd love to keep it around as long as possible. Hugs to all.

You are not alone in that!
My reaction was the exact same... aided by my error is reading the OP's screen name as "phjim" by mistake! :o

To Phinn... as others have said above, not making this website a priority does not mean you can't pop in every now and then.
So, instead of "Goodbye"... I will bid you "Au revoir, and "Auf Wiedersehen" :)

I thought that this was also a farewell for the site. I wish there was more activity as I don’t use any social media. People are so quick to be cruel and demeaning that i took myself off all social media two years ago. This is my go to for all things Buffett. I miss that guy every day, I hope this site hangs around.

Same, no social media. We miss lots of drama and stuff living up here in our little bubble. :D One new pleasure, I’ve been looking for a specific photo that I know is here somewhere. Been sorting boxes and stumbling on some gems, from long before FB or any of that. Sharing them out is so fun, bet you all have some old shoeboxes or whatever somewhere with real treasures.

Agree about this board, just a nice little respite from whatever is happening. :wench:

Good for you all. I'm on some socials, but yeah...might be better if I wasn't, though I have some friends I'd really miss.

Can we not get the old vibes back? I've only gotten into Buffett in the past 2 years and I want to generate vibes with the like minded.

SeaFans? We've tried. A lot of people who have been around for years came back for a bit after Jimmy passed. But they all reverted back to Facebook, or other social media..

I "accept" FB for what it is -- lots of people who post things that they would never say face to face.

But, I admit that I also like keeping in touch with (or maybe keeping up with) lots of folks. It's also a good tool for getting the same info out to lots of people at the same time. I try hard not to post a minute by minute replay of my life on it since I detest those types of posts.

I have never used FB, really. I have an account, but if a business wants me to go to their FB page for info, I'm out. And I've never posted anything other than one charity thing I did years ago when a friend died and I did a thing in his honor. I use FB exclusively for cosplay contacts/meetups and keeping tabs on dog sledding contacts. I did finally join the BN group a while back, but it's too busy for me and too full of random stuff. I don't even check it anymore, though I'm still a member, I guess.

I use Discord a lot more for actual communication with people I know. I like how you can set it up for different topics, etc, within one server. It feels the most like forums to me of all the newer stuff (not that FB is new - it's actually woefully old and no longer used by most under, what, thirty-five?).

But alas, yeah. Forums might make a comeback with the decline of Twitter and others, but there's mostly quiet for now.

Just saw this. Yea I get it. I don’t check in as much as before. If you ever see this, I would love to keep in touch, shoot me a message.
