Filet Mignon WEDNESDAY @ the MSC

For the meat lovers:
NATIONAL FILET MIGNON DAY
National Filet Mignon Day on August 13 celebrates a specialty cut of beef. Usually, from a steer or heifer, a filet mignon is a steak taken from the smaller end of the tenderloin of the beef carcass.
Filet mignon is French for “cute fillet” or “dainty fillet.” In French, filet mignon may be called filet de boeuf, which translates to beef fillet in English. When found on a French menu, filet mignon may also refer to pork rather than beef. Since the filet mignon comes from the most tender portion of the tenderloin, it's one of the most prized cuts of beef. Therefore, expect this steak to be the most expensive.
Enjoy your day !

Good Morning Linda & those to come.
I'm a meat lover but just seems like I rarely (see what I did there) have steak anymore. Maybe a steak & onion sub sandwich. I couldn't tell you the last time having a filet Mignon. 25+ years....More??? Of course that cut is often overpriced IMO so there's that.
Good amount of rain last night so that was good as we needed it. Although power went out for a number around here so I guess some of those folks may have taken on some water in the basement without a generator. Sunny skies supposed to kick in after the noon hour so summer still alive here.
Enjoy your 13th day of August Gang!

Back to work today, happy hump day. Yesterday I had a dermatology appointment and they took a biopsy from the back of my left hand and then froze a spot on the back of my left calf (for the second time). Won't get biopsy results for 10-12 days.

Good morning Linda, Ken, and Tammy!
Tammy - good luck with results.
I slept for 10 hours.
I love a Filet Mignon, but agreeing with Ken, they're usually way too expensive. My cut of choice is more often a Ribeye.
A few things to do around here today. Not laundry, cause E isn't here to make more.

Hi there! I had filet once and was not impressed. A butcher showed Anne that a chuckeye was a great value as it was cut close to ribeye. That is the meat she buys.

We save filet mignon for special occasions like birthdays. Or whenever Jeannette hands me a wad of
cash and says, "Get me some filet mignon and cook it on the grill".
Tomorrow I'm taking my two oldest grand kids to Ocean City, MD for a long weekend.

Got a call from co worker who got a call from code enforcement retired officer. Person living behind me complained about overgrowth in yard. Now, in a real world the jerkoff would be neighborly and know Edith care for me is 24 hours. The officers at work will be helping us. Meanwhile im throwing my dirty diaper in the Person behind me face.

A few years ago, my cardiologist told me that the less red meat that I ate and the less alcohol that I drank, the longer I would live.
I've pretty much cut red meat out of my diet.....
A pox on your neighbor, Moog.

Jerk. Why not knock on your door to see if there's anything going on or if they could help?

Sounds like this neighbor does not play well with others

I agree with SPH, he deserves a pox!
Good that you know the "right" people!
As to filets, we get them occasionally (both out and to grill at home) because I like the fact that they are smaller and are always tender.
But with this talk of filets, I have to share a funny anecdote from about 35 years ago now...
When we lived in MN (
the land of 10,000 lakes), we were out to dinner at a nice place, not realizing it was prom night. Seated at the table next to us was a group of teens, probably not used to dining out.

I can still hear one girl asking the rather confused waiter, "What kind of fish is a MIG-non?"

Thirty-five years and 3 states later, it still makes us laugh when we see it on a menu!
Hey... how are you doing? I hope the face swelling has gone down and your wrist/arm are feeling better!

Busy busy busy. Haven't even had time to get a new tattoo! As someone once said.
Finally a couple of non-drizzly days.
Finished pruning the grapes and stone fruit trees (yay!).
Went to archery practice and I, apparently, solved one of my (many) form issues! (For those who fling arrows - split groups, high and low caused by inconsistent bow hand grip and fixed with a simple velcro dot).
Dug out and put in the footing for a flag pole, which isn't actually for flags.
Sanded and then put the fourth and final coal of polyurethane on the last of the bedroom chests of drawers.
Cleaned out the chook shed.
Bought a new gas pizza oven.
And it's not even lunch time yet.
