Cheers for Key West Friday @ the MSC
Good early morning BN’ers. My recent internal pre 4 am alarm going off but at least it’s Friday so I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.
So I booked our trip to Key West for the Trop Rock’N Duval festival yesterday. Had been browsing, hemming, & hawing for last couple weeks about it. Had chatted with BN’s resident KW “Agent” Susie Rondon about it & she had laid out couple accommodation options. Well I got a bit sidetracked & was looking at a couple other “tropical” options around but kinda was going nowhere fast.
But then Susie reached back out by email & noted some discounts popping up which got me re-energized so we booked for last week in October. Looking forward to getting Laid Back & Key Wasted (well the Laid back part, alcohol free these days) in 17 days!
Tonight loser goes home & winner moves on against Toronto in ALDS game between Tigers & Mariners. Fingers crossed for our Tigers to pull the upset.
Cheers to Friday everyone!

Good morning Ken and Debbie.
I have no rooting interest in the baseball playoffs since the Mets didn't make it but I was glad the Dodgers eliminated the Phillies last night. As a native New Yorker I can't root for a Philadelphia team, that's almost as bad as rooting for a Boston team. And the Dodgers started life in Brooklyn, just like I did.
I'll wear my Brooklyn Dodgers hat (that Garry gave me for my birthday about 7 or 8 years ago) when I go out later.

I got an email today from a store that we shop at reminding us that it's "Porktober"...
History of Porktober
"Porktober was launched in Scotland in 2022 as an effort to support the pig producers from around the country. Both Scottish Craft Butchers and National Craft Butchers organizations have collaborated together to promote the nutritional and value attributes of this meat. And since it is the most widely eaten meat in the world, it’s an opportunity that many people can get involved with, not just in Scotland but all over the globe.
In the US, this is sometimes referred to as National Pork Month, but no matter what it is called, Porktober offers a delightful opportunity for pork farmers, butchers and others who simply love pork products to show a special kind of appreciation for this tasty meat.

Mmmmm.... pork.
Now I want some bacon.
Great news on your trip, Ken!!
That's a great hat, Larry!
I, however, can not stand the LA Dodgers. Because I grew up a Cubs fan, that's who I'm cheering for. Otherwise, I don't care about any of the MLB teams. Maybe Toronto....
E is working from home today, but had a Dr. appointment for blood work earlier this morning. So while he was gone, I ran the dishwasher and vacuumed. Dinner at Dukes tonight.
Nothing else exciting today.

I’m just hanging around. Slept pretty good. Started pain meds. Which I hate! But they are helping. Every 30 mos or so I go out and walk around the deck. Just to get fresh air. It’s low 70s and lower humidity. The big thing for today will be walking to the mailbox with my bodyguard aka as Kevin.

Glad you're doing 'okay', Linda. Do you hate taking pain meds as to how they make you feel, or just the reason you have to take them?

Re: Cheers for Key West Friday @ the MSC
Morning All.
Blowing a gale the past few days. I am a bit over it.
Spring has sprung and the battle against the nesting sparrows has been joined. Because we are a reasonably wooded 2 acre semi-rural property, surrounded by similar properties, vineyards and farms, we have, literally, hundreds of little sparrows. Currently they are a real nuisance as they are trying to nest everywhere. Apparently trees are not good enough.
This morning I was awoken by the noise of sparrows scrambling around the rain gutters. The little mongrels had pulled out the wire netting and were trying to get into the ceiling void through a gap under the ridge capping.
So at 7AM I was on a ladder with more wire netting...
I now need to get into the void to make sure I haven't trapped any and to remove any nesting material or nests. As my hand is still recovering that is going to be quite a painful effort.

Be careful there, Rabz... We have barn swallows. They nest every year in the same place and make more poop than any bird I have ever known. Even tho the apartments clean out the old nests, they come back again every year.

I kept remembering the 18 inning 1-0 loss to the Astros 3 years ago in the ALDS, I'll have better memories of this one....

There was a seismometer at the ballpark, and there seemed to be a little excitement in the bottom of the 15th....

Indeed was quite the ballgame, better team won IMO so I wasn’t as upset as many around here who wanted to play the blame game.SeattleParrotHead wrote: October 11, 2025 2:03 amMore fun in the the 15th! Whew!Dr.C wrote: Are we having fun yet SPH as we enter the 14th![]()

I have gone to the 2 Trop Rock 'N' Duval Festivals they have had so far. Both were great. Not overly crowded like MOTM (Which I do miss in KW). But a lot of great music. You may not get a lot of the 'A' listers. But, still great music. Susie is great, always helped me in the past. Sadly, not going this year, due to my employment situation.Dr.Corona wrote: October 10, 2025 4:33 am Good early morning BN’ers.
