Monday has dawned hot and humid.

It's late November and this is our first hot day - forecast is for 36°C/ 97°F and gusty winds. Our fire district has declared a Total Fire Ban which bans any form of open fire or ignition source being used outdoors.

After what have been two years of "green drought" and the cropping farmers currently either slashing, heading, winnowing or bailing then the stubble is primed and ready!

Although the vineyards look spectacular!

I've let the chooks out early so I can get them safely away before the hottest part of the day and I am just about to go and test the sprayers we have on the chook shed that try and keep the metal roof and sides a bit cooler for them.

And we HAVE. Got to Broken Arrow around 2:30, visited a bit, then back to our hotel to check in, put away some of our stuff (so we not digging in suitcases). Then placed a pizza order at one of our favorite places (which started in Stillwater, OK - home of Oklahoma State (where E went to college), and got 5 pizza's of various sizes/ingredients for the family (there were 9 of us). Then the kids went home, and we got to visit with E's Mom/brother/SIL. It was a nice time.

Tomorrow I'll be grocery shopping with E's Mom for all of the meals and Thanksgiving sides I'm making. My SIL and BIL both proclaimed the best week of the year, cause "Penny is cooking"!!

But tomorrow evening we'll be having dinner out with 2 of E's High School friends.

Off to bed soon. Lots to do tomorrow!
