E and I will be heading to his first Oncology appointment, and I be a wee bit nervous. He ate a little breakfast this morning. 1 egg, 1 piece of toast, and a small bowl of Raisin Bran.

Sunday was spent finishing up wrapping presents, starting the Christmas baking, having the first Moose Milk of the season and licking my wounds from the Buckeyes loss on Saturday night. I made 2 batches of Pecan Pie Bark, Rolo Pretzels a batch of White Christmas Trash. I have the Orange Pecan cookie dough chilling for baking this weekend. My youngest daughter came over and made homemade Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes and a big batch of Crock pot nut clusters.
Today is day 1 of 3 of starting to clean out my dad's house. We got here and of course the furnace was out. It's 38* in the house and at the moment Bryan is inside with a repairman. Just one more thing we'll have to pay for All I am interested in finding are the family photo albums and my mom's recipes. Everything else can go!

Edited to add: the furnace needs a new heat exchanger to the tune of 2000.00 and they don't have the part till tomorrow. Just hoping the pipes don't freeze . And the cleaning crew boss is here by herself??? And now says instead of getting done in 3 days it's going to take at least a week. Just more final to me from dear old dad

good morning everyone!

a little chilly 48 here right now. my endoscopy went well, took one biopsy and then dilated the entire "tube" .

Since we got up at 6:15 Kevin is taking a nap -- I'll sit on the couch and watch some TV - maybe fall asleep but probably not.

Nothing else going on today -- I'll make a trip to the mailbox soon to stuff our Christmas cards through the tiny slot (most communities here have "group mail boxes"). That is something else new to us as we always had one at the end of our driveway.

Thinking about yall Penny. The first visit is so scary.

Ten years ago I don't know if I'd even heard of an "atmospheric river" and now we have our third one of the season bearing down on us.
We have high wind warnings and flood warnings and soon enough you'll be seeing the pictures of salmon swimming across the roads.
But hey, it ain't snowing!

Around Christmas last year, my mom was hospitalized after her aneurysm and it was pretty sudden. Thank god my dad was in the house instead of outside smoking, so he noticed. She was helicoptered about an hour north to another hospital since my nearby one didn't have the equipment. She was unconscious and had her surgery done the next morning. When I went to visit her, Come Monday came on the radio while I was driving with my dad. On the Monday after her surgery, she woke up/came out of her "coma". I'll always remember coming into the ICU the first day and seeing my mom lying there...tubes in her mouth, IV's on both of her arms, and big white patches everywhere. The doctors, on Christmas week, thought she'd pass. Things weren't looking good, but she pulled through

Anytime Come Monday comes on the radio, it makes me tear up. Anyways, just doing more writing (as usual) and decorating the Christmas tree slowly.

m59 - what a PITA!! When we were selling my parents' home (about 4 hours away) some cretins broke in and stole the radiators!! We were very concerned about the pipes, but our realtor set up some space heaters and things were fine.

SPH - I am amazed at all the "new" weather phenomena that lately! Bombogenesis (aka Bomb Cyclones), Polar Vortex, and your Atmospheric River to name just a few!

Jerry - That had to be a super scary situation with your Mom! But how fitting it was that Come Monday played at the perfect time!

Wow! Busy day in the cafe. I think we need a mop and a bucket to get it all better.

I feel a little bad to type about a great day I had. My buddy drove most of the way to Bass Pro Shop. I tried on a pair of 90$ shoes I saw online, found they didn't fit and got a 25$ pair instead. I got some fishing stuff too. My friend spent over 400$, a lot was Christmas gifts.

It's definitely liver cancer. Don't know if it's spread to other organs yet. Full biopsy results supposed to be tomorrow. Doctor will call us around 2:00. May start treatment in the hospital Wednesday. They have to watch him closely, as it can be painful, and watch his liver #'s. He needs a MRI also done. Don't know if it's spread elsewhere so, can't remove parts of the liver if it's other places.
