Good morning!

I'm not Conky or Tonkin today, but I just liked the words.

Continued cleaning and investigating E's stuff and accounts today. Still SO much to do!

Enjoy your Saturday! :)

Good morning Penny and everyone else who wanders in :D

Love the title. The live version with Nadirah is awesome!

Just going to do some writing today... I also watched the new Avatar movie yesterday. There's 3 hours of my life I'm not getting back

Have a wonderful Saturday :D :D :D

Spent yesterday running errands for Mom and gathering ingredients for sarma.
We are going to get together at my brother Chris's house tomorrow and make a whole bunch of it.
It's ground hot sausage meat, pork, and ham wrapped in pickled cabbage leaves and cooked in sauerkraut.
It's a family tradition around New Years. :pirate:

Good Morning Gang!

Have to say I'm probably one of the few that really enjoyed JB's country collaboration album License to Chill, including the Conky Tonkin' song.

Had to come into the office today to get up some computer updates made & installed by our Tech person this morning. She was here bright & early &
got er dun already so I'm free to move on to other "things".
Lynn & I planned on going & looking at Entertainment center style Electric Fireplaces today but she's not feeling well so not sure if that's still in the cards still or not. Also just received a call from Pearle Vison & my new glasses are in so THAT will be a stop for me. Hope this script works for me. My vision has been CRAP for too long. Such a procrastinator I am. :o

Enjoy your day gang!

Good afternoon.

When I ate at the Cuban restaurant in the Flamingo last week, my Cuban fried chicken came with a side of moro rice. I never heard of moro rice so I looked it up. It's white rice and black beans but they're cooked together in the same pot so the rice takes on the color of the beans. I'm not a very good cook but I tried making it yesterday. It tasted good but my rice didn't turn as dark as theirs did. Oh well. There's leftovers so I'll have it again today.

Hi Kids!!!

I think I am officially de-Christmased. Spent the morning finishing up laundry and regular Saturday chores. Boxed up what was left of miscellaneous Christmas crap and got it all back in its assigned location in the storage room. Mopped the floors and vacuumed well. I love when the house is clean, but never motivated enough to do it all 🤣

I made up a pot of bean soup with the ham carcass. Always reminds me of my dad who made a bunch of soups with whatever was in the fridge. I really wanted to make split pea, but didn’t see any peas at Aldi in my whirl wind trip. Maybe next time I have a long weekend and see some smoked ham hocks waiting to become a few lunches and dinners.

Not sure what this afternoon will hold—maybe staying in since it sounds like lots of people aren’t feeling great. I don’t mind staying a semi healthy hermit.

Take care, all. Hoping everyone stays well or gets there quickly.

Yep, and "Coast of Carolina" and "Sea of Heartbreak".

That's one I've never heard of - except from you and your family. :)

I've seen it cooked that way on one of the MANY cooking shows I watch. But I'm not a fan of black beans, so I've never tried it. Good for you for taking a stab at it!! :D

Good afternoon folks!

I’ve been ordered by Dr Kevin to take it easy today. I’m trying to by whoever I’m doing I’m doing slowly.

I’m trying not to watch the potential circle of life going on outside our fence and in the pond. There are 7 Canadian geese currently present. (We’ve had up to 30 during the spring mating season. One has a broken left leg so he’s pretty stationary. The other 6 come and go in the water on on the common area bank. A few times they come honking with wings flapping up to 2 feet away from “Limpy”. He hobbles up, tries to take a step and back down he goes. Then they head back to their “base” to regroup for the next attack.

A neighbor left messages yesterday and today with wildlife rescue but were thinking it’s not a top priority on a rainy weekend even though they are protected in the entire US

I really like "Coast of Carolina" but didn't mention it 'cuz I thought it was a cover from an earlier album. I stand corrected....

Just yesterday I was thinking about making a pot of Navy Bean soup. My mom always made Navy Bean or Baby Lima Bean soup with a big ham hock in it. MrsSPH says she doesn't like bean soup, but I don't recall her ever having it in the 44 years that we've been together. I might have to surprise her......

I'm with the Mrs... I don't like beans of any kind.

Well, one good thing.. I have a small location of my county library a minute from the apartments, and they take books! I have about 100 books of E's that I can donate to a good place. :)

Maybe it is the nostalgia, but it is one of my favorites. So easy to make and a great way to use up extra ham. I just bagged up some for the freezer and have enough left over for tomorrow’s lunch/dinner. One of my goals this year is to stop ordering takeout/delivery food. Hoping that having easy things in the freezer may help. Doubtful..🤣🤣

YaY!! I learned to leaf through books as I cleaned out my parents’ home. I found a few dollars here and there, photos, notes, and newspaper clippings that were used for book marks. Also answered the question of where I got my random bookmark habit from.

I have probably 20 books... E has about 150.... And thanks for the idea, I leafed through pages, just to make sure. :)
