Bobblehead WEDNESDAY @ the MSC

Today is National Bobblehead Day....

I had no idea they've been around for over 100 years.......who says you can't learn something new every day. There are no bobble heads in our house.

Each year on January 7th, National Bobblehead Day recognizes a day of celebration for all spring-connected head bobbing figurines.
For over 100 years, bobbleheads have been entertaining and fascinating fans and collectors. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, too. Bobbleheads commemorate iconic teams, movies, and cartoon characters. Individually, they represent some of our most exciting athletes or thrilling television and movie characters. Early bobbleheads, known as bobbers or nodders, developed from Germany. They took root in the United States pop culture in the 1950s and 60s. Bobbleheads resurged in the late 1990s when professional sports teams began using them as promotional items. Today, as toys and collectibles, bobbleheads continue to amuse and captivate us.

Enjoy your day -- maybe buy a bobblehead and join in the fun :D

Good Morning Linda, those to come!

Not the bobbleheads we think of today but I recall as a kid back in the 60's or maybe early 70's seeing a knick-knack type thing that was a dog & the head would bob when you touched it....and pretty sure there were other kind of figurines that would kind of a "thing" back then. Would see them in the back windows of cars also

Foggy day here in the Mitten state as temps roll to 40 [smilie=gt-happyup.gif] Seems like it could be a dry also. We received a major soaking yesterday & rain/sleet is forthcoming the next couple days as we head towards 55 for Friday :o

Have a good day everyone

Good morning Linda ad Ken.

I have 2 bobbleheads, both were giveaways at Pelicans games. One was when they did a Clemson University night and the bobblehead is Clemson's football coach Dabo Swinney. They were given out to the first 1000 people at the game and a very attractive young lady wearing a Clemson shirt offered to buy mine. She didn't make me an offer I couldn't refuse. The other one is the Pelicans 2 mascots - Splash (a guy in a pelican costume) and Rally (a guy in a shark costume) - standing back to back. One is wearing Clemson colors and the other is wearing University of South Carolina colors.

Last night was Star Wars Night at the Hurricanes game. They showed two people in the crowd dressed as Chewbacca and they were both wearing Hurricanes jerseys over their costumes. They didn't show any other people in costume but there were a few with light sabers.

Good morning all!

Off to the library in about 30 minutes to bring 4 boxes of books, and 2 bags of DVD's.

Later is a blood draw, that my doctor requested.

I have one bobble head... Nolan Arenado when he was still a Colorado Rockies player. It was a giveaway at a game.

Have a good Wednesday! :)

I have Edgar Martinez, Jay Buhner, Jamie Moyer, Robinson Cano, and 2 different Ken Griffey Jr. bobbleheads downstairs on a basement shelf from back when I was taking my 'keets to lots of games.

This phone is in our family room, I got it at a fund raising auction years ago. It's from the Kingdome:

Outside decorations are down, hands got cold and gloves were wet.

I thought the Jimmy bobblehead cute, but the nose was too round.

It's still 66 degrees here. I'm taking advantage of the weather, and running trash to the dumpster. I have a fold up wagon that E bought years ago. Makes it easier, except the upslope in the sidewalk.

Expecting some snow (maybe) tomorrow IF the temps drop below 34 degrees, otherwise it'll be just rain. :)

Good afternoon!

Very icy this morning. I unfortunately do not own any bobbleheads. I was thinking of getting one of the Vault Boy from Fallout.

The Christmas decorations are still up!

Hot hot hot.

115° in the old money yesterday...

More of the same today. Just after 7AM and we're in the very high 80s.

We're under a fire weather warning.

Have a nice day!!!!

I do not own any Bobbleheads.
My Dad had a Mr. Met one from a game-day giveaway - that became my brother's...
While I have my Dad's Islander Jacket. I think I win!

Kind of yucky day here... good day to DE-decorate the house... and be thankful I do not have to venture out anywhere. :)

I think Mr. Met was the first human being mascot in Major League Baseball, long before the San Diego Chicken or the Philly Phanatic.

Hi kids!

No Bobbie heads here, unless you count when I show the dog a treat and she anxiously moves her head in whatever way I move th cookie.. we gotta work off those treat calories somehow.

I used to love those dogs, Ken. They were right up there with the bird with the glass butt filled with colored water. The bird would tip his beak into a glass of water then stand back up in a wobbly way before repeating the process. We had some great gimmicky toys back in the day 🤣
