Brrrrr. Good morning gang. We were going to Cleveland for their Frosted Ball, but the storm scares me. We forfeit 2 50$ reservations, but safety first.

Good morning Bill.

I'm having my car serviced this morning. There were a couple of those portable digital signs along Hwy 17 saying crews were out treating the roads. They spray some kind of brine solution on the roads whenever the forecast is for any type of winter precipitation. Whatever kind of bad weather we have over the weekend, I'll be safe on my couch.

Hey guys! And hello to everyone who saunters in.

Bill, sorry you will miss that event but you’re right. Sometimes staying home bc of bad weather is the better decision.

Be comphy on your sofa Larry.

I bagged on yoga this morning. Just can’t seem to get moving most mornings these days. I will go to the library craft session at 1:30. The rest of our day is free. A neighbor (firefighter with a side carpentry-type business) is coming to install a small 2-sided vinyl fence along the garage so we can hide our trash tote. Our HOA regs say it has to be hidden. Bushes are fine but both things I planted since we’ve been here have died from root rot. Seems that side of the yard holds more water. The fence surround will look nicer.

Hi Kids!

Freezing here in Michigan, too. I haven’t done any downsizing but did start laundry and begin organizing papers for taxes.

It is at least sunny out, so the front room feels inviting with the sun pouring in. The furnace doesn’t seem to stop running, though. I grabbed another blanket and am cozily tucked in.

Not much else planned other than switching out laundry and reading a book. Maybe downsizing will happen tomorrow…..

Good afternoon all. Grand daughter turns 20 today. Major snow storm headed our way Saturday night through
Monday morning. Lots of shoveling in my future. [smilie=grrrrrr.gif]

Good afternoon all!

Been doing a bit more purging this morning. Several bottles of adult beverages that were opened, and several I'll never drink. A couple I'll bring more to my BIL.

Freezing here, wind chill is 0. Overnight -5. But very minimal snow.

Looking for a new car, and a good friend of my sister is helping me do that.

Sorry you're missing the event, Bill - but you made the right decision.

Happy birthday to your granddaughter, John!

Mel, I had on our fireplace, and the furnace STILL keeps kicking on, too.

Linda, good luck on the fence building!

Larry - enjoy the couch!!

Good afternoon everyone! Stay warm and safe. And watch out for exploding trees if you're up by Michigan. I'm in the 12 to 18 inch range for snow. Still got to hit the grocery store before the storm.

In conjunction with your Freezin' Up in Buffalo verse you used from the song Manana, I offer up this memory that fits into another verse of that song, along with your decision to hole up at your homestead

Back in my later high school days, probably the winter of 76-77, I along with some of my cousins we had tix to a KISS concert in Detroit, a good hour drive south of us from up here in the Flint area. Bashed by a wicked snow storm that day in Mid Michigan & the Detroit area we were sent home early from school that day........Yay!!!! But.....later the determination was made to play it safe & pass on the concert. I may have already told the story & shared, but ultimately my Uncle didn't really think it was safe to make that drive so he volunteered to reimburse us for the cost of the concert tix if we didn't go. So that's what happened...we stayed home...and Uncle LLoyd made our sacrifice a little easier on our meager pockets.
Alas, it was about 2 years later before we actually got to see KISS in concert.
Thus, I offer up the line from the aforementioned song lyric, ""Don't try to describe a Kiss concert if you've never seen it"
:pirate:

Day Two of an extended severe heatwave.

The forecast is a bit of a worry - several days of extreme and catastrophic fire danger plus we haven't had rain for a couple of months. The cropping land has been harvested and is all bone-dry, very combustible stubble...

Saturday - 108°F
Sunday - 102°F
Monday - 113°F
Tuesday - 109°F
Wednesday - 99°F
Thursday - 99°F
Friday - 108°F

Edit to add: We are generally 4 to 6°warmer than the forecast as we are on a different ridge to the weather guessers equipment.

It is just before 7.30AM and already high 80s.

The chickens were let out a couple of hours ago and will be rounded up and put back into their shed soon - before it gets too hot for them...

I still don't want snow...

This thread has the extremes today. I saw a beef farmer at Walmart after a small squall and told him I'm looking forward to mud. Looking at at long range temps, it doesn't get above freezing until Feb13.

We are gearing up for "snowmageddon" here!
The weather people are going crazy as they have not had the chance to blather over a real storm in years!!
We'll see what happens...

I haven’t heard many cracks and creeks and bongs like usually happen on super cold days like this. Hoping the one tree in my yard doesn’t explode—if is a HUGE maple that would take out the covered patio, garage, and probably most of the house.

Not a lot of snow here, just very cold. But it'll only last through Sunday. We'll be in the upper 40's next week, and 50's the week after. :D

Thanks to Rabz.. I found a place that's 15 minutes from me to take his diving tank. However, the beer making equipment is about 45 minutes away, but it's worth getting rid of it, and while I'm not getting any $ for it, I'm fine with that.
