Snow on SUNDAY @ the MSC

Good Morning !

Looks like we got about 4" of snow -- the wind is blowing strongly and we have no hot water - along with most of the other 300 single family homeowners. The townhomes have electric so they are good to go.

But it sure does look pretty :).

Good morning, Linda. Good you didn't lose power as well. You can always heat water on the stove.

2 reporters arrived yesterday from The Weather Channel and are in downtown Myrtle Beach.

We still don't have hot water even after 4 trips out to the pipes with a hairdryer. We (along with 2 other neighbors) just ordered Pipe Heat Cable from Lowes for delivery by 2pm today. We may not have time (or sunlight) to install it today but at least we have it.

Our neighbor shoveled his driveway (he parks both cars there) and while it is still somewhat wet it's completely clear.

I'll still take this vs the 14" our kids currently have in PA.

Good morning Linda and Bill!

Sorry for the cold issues, Linda. We need snow here, mostly because of the need for water. I would just like some rain. ;) But the ski resorts are suffering due to lack of snow.

Running to the grocery store in a bit, just for a few things. I haven't been eating much, nor cooking much, tho.

Cameron is taking Sarah and me out to dinner, to celebrate her belated birthday, and my upcoming. I'll enjoy that. :)

It's already 40 here, and heading to 60 degrees. :)

Good morning.

I have The Thing From Another World saved on my DVR, I'm going to watch it today. It takes place in the Arctic, there's a lot of snow and ice. Just like Myrtle Beach.

In the interest of complete accuracy, I have to correct something I said yesterday. The 14 inches of snow that was Myrtle Beach's only white Christmas was in 1989, not 1983. That was long before I moved here.

I haven't gone outside yet so I don't know how much snow we have. I'm relaxing with a cup of tea (I don't drink as much coffee as I used to), just killing time.

Fortunately we were able to order an Electric heated "cable" to wrap around the water heater pipes. We have a certified plumber/friend in the neighborhood who recommended it to us. So.......Kevin and I will attempt to get this installed shortly since the sun will finally come around to that side of our house. We have a 2-story beside us which blocks most of the morning/early afternoon sun which normally we don't mind but a little warmth on that side right now would be nice.

But hey, we aren't complaining.....we're still better off than ALOT of people.

I worked half a day yesterday and while I was gone, Bryan went to pick up the half a cow we bought from a good friend. We split the half with the youngest daughter so we both ended up with a quarter. Everyone's freezer is full of good beef!
Today is going to be spent doing laundry and snuggling under a blanket in my recliner.
My brother's kids are still refusing to sign the paperwork so I can sell the house, vehicles, boats and other items. The clean out of the house ended up being 8 30 yard dumpsters and 14k dollars.
Stay safe and warm.

Hi kids!

Sorry about the water issues, Linda. I forget that you southern folk don’t have houses that can withstand extremes in weather like us 4 season folk. I am glad you have a solution that hopefully works.

Penny, your weather seems strange for Colorado. I remember your weather is bipolar, but I don’t think that happened much in the middle of winter. And, not to get all naggy naggy, but I am worried you aren’t eating. Try to snack through out the day on healthy things just to keep your nutrition up. The last thing we need is you getting sick because your immune system is compromised. 💕

It has been a “warm” sunny day here. I cleared some of the packed snow from the drive, went to the grocery store, and made cheeseburgers for dinner. Just sounded good and they were. 😁

Rumor has it more snow and cold is on the way. As long as the sun keeps shining and the roads aren’t awful I guess I am okay with it. Cloudy cold drab days when the snow is gray aren’t good for my mood.

I am ready for warmer weather and longer days, though.

A friend of mine in Northern SC got just over 7' of snow! She is originally from CT, so she decided to "relive her youth" (her words) by making some snow angels. If I tried that, I probably would not be able to get up!

BUMMER
on the lack of hot water! What caused that and why does having electric in the townhouses make a difference?

Very cool !! 8) I went to several of those with my kids back in the day when they lived at home. They were a lot of fun!
I was hoping someone in our neighborhood was going so I could tag along (since my husband can't) but no one was, :-? and I did not want to go it alone. I'm sure it was a blast! :D

We’re at SJC airport waiting to board our flight home and the Patriots’ plane just landed here. If I’d had my phone in my hand I coulda taken a picture, but….

It's okay to be naggy.. ;) I do eat some things - like today I got some cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots - Cut them up and marinated them for a snack. I'm just not hungry... [smilie=hearts.gif] [smilie=hearts.gif] [smilie=hearts.gif]

We have seen them depart Providence a number of times as well as when they played here in Tampa. It’s always a beautiful site to see.
