Ice Cream for Breakfast SATURDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

The first Saturday in February is a big treat because it's Ice Cream for Breakfast Day! What better way to start the day than with a refreshingly sweet scoop of ice cream with your breakfast? (I think I'll pass)

Whether the sun rises over a frosty morning or a warm one, having a scoop or two of ice cream for breakfast once a year places a bright spot right in the middle of winter. The creamy goodness of chocolate or vanilla will start Saturday off right. Add some fresh fruit or sprinkle some of your favorite cereal for some crunch.

Those who like to get creative with their ice cream might like bacon or avocado-flavored ice cream at breakfast time. How about cinnamon toast and coffee ice cream? There are so many ways to participate in this deliciously good day. All you really have to do, though, is have ice cream for breakfast.

In the 1960s, Florence Rappaport of New York created Ice Cream for Breakfast Day as a way to chase away cabin fever for her six children due to a winter storm that had blown through the area. The annual celebration caught on as her children grew and shared it on their travels. Today, the day has been observed in Canada, New Zealand, England, South Africa, Israel, and more.

-----
Tonight is our annual Chili/Soup Cookout. It's our 2nd year in SC after hosting this for 7 yrs in PA. As of now we have 7 couples participating. Some from the neighborhood, one we met on-line when we were both looking at another/new community to build in down here (neither of us ended up there) and Scott & Esther (from PA) who got here a few years before us.

Have a fantastic day :)

Good morning Linda and BN!

I've had a spoonful here and there at breakfast, occasionally.

Have fun at the chili cook out!

Two good friends are picking me up around 5:30 and we're going to my last DU hockey game. :) :( I'll miss going, but not a fan of going by myself, and just don't want to spend the $$ for the tickets.

Have a good Saturday!!

Good morning Penny and Linda!

I've never had any ice cream with my breakfast. The closest I've had was whipped cream on pancakes, and that was about a year ago in some restaurant in Quebec!

I woke up to an unexpected snow storm this morning! 3 to 5 inches, the weather machine says.

Hope all is well, everyone. Have a great Saturday!! :D :D :D
Jerry...from Massachusetts. I'd like to go where it's warm! :D

I always have ice cream in the freezer and I eat some almost every day but I have never had ice cream for breakfast. I'm mostly a cereal person for breakfast. Sometimes a muffin. When I was still working we had a cafeteria in the office so I would usually get a bagel with my coffee when I got to work.

Today is making a menu for the Valentine's Day week from hell at the flower shop. Tomorrow will be spent in the kitchen making Broccoli 🥦 Cheese Soup, Tomato Basil Bisque and getting Short Ribs ready for the crockpot later in the week. I'm making my homemade Spanish Rice casserole tonight and tomorrow we're having Coney's and Fries 🍟 Today I'm doing laundry. Happy Saturday!

Hi there! Anne ran chores while I napped. The leg is getting black n blue and the staples are tight. They come out in 10 days.

I have eaten strawberry short cake with ice cream for breakfast.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Nah, all good for another day.....

In other news...
This flag hangs on the front of Raisbeck Aviation High School, across the street from the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field and next door to the Boeing Developmental Center (where I worked for 20 years.)

For context, the Space Needle is painted up and lit up like this, (I guess there's something going on this weekend?):

I can only recall ice cream for breakfast one time...

It was during a power outage when I was a kid! My folks decided it was better to do that than letting it completely melt and go to waste!
I still remember it being delicious because it was soft-serve consistency, but GOOD ice cream (we always had Breyers at home) not like typical soft stuff! [smilie=yum.gif]

Penny's comment reminded me that I may have used a spoonful in coffee on occasion to cool it off. I did not consider that "eating" though.

Jerry - I think you live in a different thermobar! I knew we were supposed to get snow, but the total here was about 2 inches. An annoying amount, as our plow guy won't come, but the street plow does. :x BUT my wonderful neighbors stopped by with shovels to clear it. I joined them, and the 3 of us had it done in no time, whereupon I "forced" the payment of adult beverages from the magic fridge upon them!

A late night post, as my two dear friends picked me up and drove me to a DU hockey game. And DU won 4-1 over a rival, Colorado College. These guys were awesome, and I love them a lot. Jake used to be a beertender at Lone Tree, and he's the one who makes the soaps we love. Scott is a snow plow driver in the mountains, and lots of respect. They even offered to join me in games next season IF I renew my Season Tickets. :D

Hi All,

Just got back from some island time.

We stayed at Likuri Island in Fiji. A small resort island with a big heart. The staff make you feel like you are living in YOUR island village.

The only disappointing thing was leaving.

The pictures are making me smile! It is nice to see phriends enjoying themselves.

Sunday here and I am just catching up on the coconut telegraph. Hoping that healing isn’t too uncomfortable, Bill. Soups and chili sound yummy-I dug out a NY strip roast from the freezer and am roasting Brussels sprouts and onions in the oven. That will be dinner in some form over the next few days since I have meetings after work for the next three days.

I will watch the games for the commercials and halftime show just so I can somewhat be in the know for the water cooler debrief tomorrow. I pay half attention since I am not super familiar with either team.

Enjoy your Sunday, all.💕
