Good morning Bill and BN! :)

My sister called me last night and asked it if I wanted to go 'visit' Mom and Dad and at Ft. Logan. We'll go this afternoon when there's a few less crowds.

That's my only plan today. I'm done with the apartment fuss, other than now I'm in need of actual cleaning of all of the furniture and pictures. I didn't bother polishing and cleaning stuff when I knew everything was going to get dirty during the move.

Giving those who lost their lives today some proud thoughts.

Good morning Bill and Penny.

Myrtle Beach built a Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the dedication ceremony is today at 11:00. I saw a story on the news a few days ago that they expect about 1,000 people to be there. The park where they built the memorial has less than 100 parking spots. If 1,000 people show up, where are they supposed to park?

Lots of walking, I would guess...

Ran into a fellow Coast Guard veteran at the store. He was stationed at a few of the places that I served at,
only about 20 years apart. Semper Paratus. :pirate:

Bryan and I went to the cemetery yesterday. It's likely to be my last visit. I went mainly for my baby brother and it's the first time I've been there since my dad was interred. I wanted to see that the headstone engraving was done and correct. It was. I was surprised to see that my older brother has a headstone too. Not sure if my dad bought it or his kids, but most likely my dad did, unfortunately he died before it was installed.
We had lunch at a favorite Mexican restaurant, then we came home and I did laundry.
Today we're just doing a whole lot of nothing.

Thanks to all who served, who serves and the ones who sacrificed it all.🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Afternoon everyone!

It has been a beautiful day in Michigan. Lots of sun and low humidity 80 degrees. I put the flag at half mast this morning before coffee. Finished mulching the gardens a little after twelve, so it was perfect timing for rising it back up.

I always do as my father on Memorial Day—make sure the flag honors those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, then spend some time learning history lessons not taught to us in school. I am very grateful my dad spent time reminding me that there is so much more to our history and the world than what they tell us in school.

What I would do to hear his stories and experiences again. They aren’t kidding when they say youth is wasted on the young.

Well, gonna enjoy the back patio for a while longer before it is time to go in. Three more weeks of school then I can pretend I am retired for a few weeks.

Hi John!! (that's very cool)!! :)

Hi Tammy!! Glad your lunch was good, and the rest was "okay".. :)

Hi Mel!! My Dad had a lot of those traditions, too.. And you never said "Happy" Memorial day. ;)

We did go to Ft. Logan, and it was a beautiful sight. Stopped and said HI! to Mom and Dad. :D
