Last August THURSDAY @ the MSC
Hello everyone!
Another scorcher here in SC. I’ll be spending a few hours at the library today while the kids do some stuff. Not sure what Kevin will be doing.
Last night at dinner Lincoln had a super duper meltdown. Screaming for more than 15 mins only stopping to catch a breath. It was pretty intense.
But today he is happy and running circles around the house.

Good morning Linda and BN!
Sorry about the meltdown last night, Linda. Hopefully he won't have a repeat.
A few things to do today, including a little packing. Going tomorrow downtown Denver to see Lionel Richie and Earth/Wind/Fire with a longtime friend (I've known her since 1994, and used to work with her). Staying at a Hilton downtown so we don't have to drive home so late.
Have a good Thursday!

Good Morning Ladies.......and BN'ers to come!
Linda: Typical young'un..........A devil one day (or moment), an Angel the next. Gotta love em
Penny: Awesome you're getting to see that concert. Saw EW&F within the last 5 years. Great!
Only saw Lionel Richie when he opened for Jimmy back in 2012. Obviously the dude has a bevy of great songs.
Even though it was in an outdoor baseball stadium enjoyed his music live.
Anxious to put a wrap on this week, but not the month. With August now in our sights the fact that summer is
slipping away becomes more of a reality, at least here in the upper Midwest. But tis what it is. Not like I'm a beach hound anyway.
Enjoy your 30th day of July everyone!

Good morning, Ken!
I saw EW&F and The Commodores in the late 80's, and they were great. We'll see how they are now that they're older, and missing some band members.

August? Moving too fast! I was at Costco yesterday and they had Christmas wrap and toys alongside the Haloween decorations
Enjoy the concert, MsMod!
Do you remember
The 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Just a couple of years ago, we were all together as a family when "September" came on the radio. One of our she-'keets
said "there's your song, mom" and MrsSPH said "I've always liked the song, but why is it "my song"?" Our 'keets looked at each other and started laughing.... "have you ever listened to the words?" "Sure" she said....
I'm thinking she hasn't listened too closely, her birthday is September 21st. The song has been out nearly 50 years!

I may not be able to party like I used to, but if I take a nap, I can usually stay up ‘til dark....

Good morning.
I didn't go to the game last night but the Pelicans won, a rare occurrence. They finished in last place in their division in the first half of the season and they're in last place again in the second half. Of the 9 guys in the starting lineup, 6 of them have batting averages below the Mendoza line.

Thanks for the music, Mr. SPH.
And yes, it should be her song!!
Philip Bailey is no longer with EW&F, but his son is.
The Pelicans sound like the Rockies, Larry.

The ocean water temp was amazing. Everyone was in the water.
Kevin and I came back without the rest of the group since I have library events and he wanted to go to Total Wine.
I'm off for my activities and the kids are still gone.

Hi there! I worked out at the Y and need to chill before outdoor work later on.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Yeah... I read that 3 times... kept thinking it must say Last Thursday BEFORE August... but nope!
I guess those kids are really messing with Linda's head!
Linda - are they really that bad that you are wishing away Summer?
Larry - how are you feeling? Glad your Pelicans won, I hope that cheered you up a bit.
So true! I made a half-devil / half-angel costume for my daughter's first Halloween. All the Moms in the 'hood could relate!Dr.Corona wrote:Linda: Typical young'un..........A devil one day (or moment), an Angel the next. Gotta love em

Morning All.
Exactly 0.0°C as I type. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I have been thinking about replacing my 11 year old ute (a ute is a thing invented in Australia and stolen by Ford who renamed it a pick-up). The current ute is Mitsubishi Triton 4WD and is still going strong but times they are a-changing. The Triton is an old school manual with almost zero tech. I like that.
Mrs Rabz and I took a hybrid 4wd ute for a test drive yesterday. Geebus!!!! It has a TV screen for a dashboard and a control for everything. It has a Heads Up Display (HUD) which was annoying at first but it shows your speed right in front of you, as well as the speed limit but you need it! The thing was stupidly fast! 0 to 100km/h in 5.5 secs (about 0 to 60 mph in 5 secs).
Even SWMBO thought it was good once she got used to the size. It is bigger than the current ute but not stupid big like the current American pick-ups are.
Off to see the financial advisor to work out if we can afford it.

Re: Last August THURSDAY @ the MSC
Good luck on the new vehicle, Rabz. I have a lot of gadgets on my car, which is a 2026 model.
And your ute comment interested me, and I found this:

The pickup truck was first invented in Germany in 1896 by Gottlieb Daimler, while the first factory-made modern light-duty pickup with a rear bed was introduced in the United States in 1925 by Ford Motor Company.
The modern passenger car-based utility vehicle, known as the "ute," was invented in 1934 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia

I feel better, just a little rundown because I haven't been sleeping well the last couple of days. I fell asleep on the couch this afternoon while I was watching The Maltese Falcon. Maybe I'll go to bed earlier tonight, I'm a night owl and rarely go to bed before midnight. I should probably change my sleep habits.Caribbean Soul wrote: July 30, 2026 4:15 pm Larry - how are you feeling? Glad your Pelicans won, I hope that cheered you up a bit.
